"Lian Po is too old to eat", what is the final outcome of Lian Po?

Lian Po finally died in Shouchun, Chu.

In the 21st year of Zhao Haoqi (245 BC), Lian Po led troops to capture Fan Yang of Wei (now northwest of Neihuang County, Henan Province). In the same year, Zhao died and his son Zhao Mouxiang succeeded to the throne.

Lian Po lived in Daliang for a long time. Although Wang Wei took him in, he didn't trust him. Because Zhao was besieged for many times, the king of Zhao wanted to appoint Lian Po and Lian Po wanted to be appointed by Zhao.

The Prince of Zhao sent an emissary to visit Lian Po with a pair of precious armor and four fast horses to see if Lian Po could still be used. Guo Kai, the enemy of Lian Po, was afraid that Lian Po would take power again, and secretly bribed the emissary to speak ill of Lian Po. After Zhao's emissary met Lian Po, Lian Po ate a bucket of rice and ten catties of meat in front of him, and put on armor to show that he was still useful.

But the messenger came back and reported to the king of Zhao: "General Lian is old and eats well, but he sat with me and shit three times in a short time." The prince of Zhao thought Lian Po was old, so he was not appointed, and Lian Po never had a chance to serve his country again.

When Chu heard that Lian Po was in Wei, he secretly sent someone to meet him. After Lian Po became a general of Chu, he made no achievements. He said, "I want to use Zhao people." But after all, Zhao failed to re-enable him, which led to Lian Po's depression, and finally he died in Shouchun, Chu (now Shouxian, Anhui).

Extended data:

Most people's impression of Lian Po comes from the historical story of "harmony but difference", while those who read more historical books come from the biographies of Lian Po and Lin Xiangru in Historical Records. This story, which has been told through the ages, highlights Lin Xiangru's wit, courage and generosity, while Lian Po gives people a somewhat negative impression: arrogant and irritable.

Although he can correct his mistakes, after all, he lost to Lin Xiangru in bearing. In addition, our impression of Lian Po in the army is not very high. We don't think he has achieved any great victory in history. He seems to be inferior to Zhao She and Li Mu, two wizards.

In fact, when we accepted the image of Lian Po, its fighting capacity was discounted, because the Biography of Lian Po and Lin Xiangru highlighted Lin Xiangru too much, which inevitably weakened Lian Po.

In particular, Lin Xiangru's diplomatic achievements, such as his return to Zhao and the meeting of Mianchi intact, are vivid and immersive, while Lian Po's exploits are ignored. In fact, Lian Po's contribution to Zhao is not lower than Lin Xiangru's, even higher than the first class.

For example, at the Mianchi meeting, the history books only showed us that Lin Xiangru single-handedly opposed the king of Qin and forced him to play music for the prince of Zhao. Although he only played a musical instrument, he safeguarded national dignity in diplomatic occasions. The king of Qin seems to be intimidated by Lin Xiangru's threat of violence, but it is not. Lian Po and Lian Po played a key role in pacifying the King of Qin.

Look at the sentence in Historical Records, Biography of Lian Po and Lin Xiangru: "Zhao also set up a garrison for Qin, and Qin did not dare to move." And this at the head of zhao, it is Lian Po. Lin Xiangru performed all the wonderful plays, but only a few Lian Po really stood on the stage, which was really unfair.

In the battle with Qin Jun, Lian Po seems to be more conservative, not as explosive as Zhao She and Li Mu. In fact, judging from the long-term military confrontation, Lian Po is the real military pillar of Zhao.

Facing the strong military pressure of Qin, Zhao, who is relatively weak, can't always win major victories. The greatest achievement of Zhao She and Li Mu is to repel Qin Jun in a short time, not to defeat Qin Jun.

Lian Po, a serious military commander, often makes Qin Jun unable to chew, chew or eat. Although Zhao's face will suffer some losses, at least he can protect himself. The replacement of Lian Po in the battle of Changping was a watershed in the military confrontation between Zhao and Qin. Since then, Zhao has been at a disadvantage.

And Lian Po, even after the army of Zhao was greatly weakened, could still lead the exhausted army to sweep the vassals and kill the Lord of Yan, thus stabilizing the situation of the army of Zhao after the war.

Of course, history is fair to Lian Po, and his fame is immortal. In the Tang Dynasty, he was one of more than sixty Ares and was invited to the Wu Temple. There were seventy-two God of War in Wu Temple in Song Dynasty, and Lian Po was one of them.

Lian Po's military line does not pursue good looks. Although it is sometimes played well, it pursues practicality. We should pay special attention to this kind of talents and entrust them with heavy responsibilities.
