[Dong] The earliest Chinese character surname used by the Manchu people, recorded in "Nancun Shuigeng Lu" written by Tao Zongyi of the Yuan Dynasty: the Jin people's surname Shuhu said Dong. According to the ancient Korean book "Records of the Li Dynasty", there are thousands of Jurchen sea children in Donggui Cave in the north of Tieling, with Dong as their surname. The family of Nurhaci, Taizu of the Qing Dynasty, once had Tong, Tong, and Dong as their surnames in Chinese characters (see the first Manchu surname: Jueluo for details).
