How did the word "Huaxia" come from?

First, the word Huaxia comes from:

1, the word Huaxia first appeared in Zhou Shu Wu Cheng, a historical book of the Zhou Dynasty: "Huaxia is too proud to be given easily." China is also called China, Midsummer, Middle Earth and China. China and Xia used to be common, and these two words are synonyms. It is summer in China. China is also called midsummer. For example, in Zuo Zhuan's Ten Years in Office, Confucius said: "Don't seek summer, don't mess with China." The "Hua" here is also "Xia". Confucius regarded "Xia" and "Hua" as synonyms. In Oracle Bone Inscriptions, the word "Hua" occupies a high position.

2. From the Spring and Autumn Period, China ancient books began to use "Hua" and "Xia" together, collectively referred to as "Huaxia nationality". Huangdi and Yan Di, ancestors of Han nationality, competed for the right to worship heaven in the Central Plains. Later people called it the Battle of Hanquan, and the alliance between Huangdi and Yanhuang was formed. Later, in the battle of Zhuolu, they defeated Chiyou, the leader of the Jiuli nationality of Dongyi Group, and expanded their alliance power to today's Shandong. Later, with the Yellow Emperor Department and Yan Di Department as the main body, they formed a greater Huaxia alliance with some Dongyi tribes in Shandong. From 2 100 to 770 years ago, descendants of Huangdi nationality in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River successively established Xia Dynasty, Shang Dynasty and Zhou Dynasty.

3. Han people called themselves Huaxia in the pre-Qin period, and gradually called themselves "Han" from the Han Dynasty. Therefore, Chinese people have another name: Han. The original title "Huaxia" did not disappear, but became synonymous with China culture, which was the previous name of China.

Second, the concept of China:

1, Huaxia is the ancient name of China. China does not refer to a nation.

2. Huaxia is also called "Xia" and "Zhu Xia" and "Hua" and "Zhu Hua". "Xia" means "great and powerful" in Qiang and Tibetan languages. As a cultural concept, the word Huaxia first appeared in the Zhou Dynasty, and people who respect etiquette and justice are called Huaxia. The word Huaxia was originally regarded as the culture of Han nationality, but now it covers the whole of China and is a symbol of China culture.
