Is it necessary for non-history majors to study history?

Middle school students have systematically studied the modern history of China and have a certain understanding of relevant historical facts, major events and important people. However, they still can't systematically and accurately grasp the historical context, the law of historical development and the basic viewpoints of historical materialism. They still lack a deep understanding of China's history and the "three choices" of the people of China (Marxism, China's * * * production party and socialism), and they are not so clear about the course and historical experience of Marxism in China. Especially because of the exam-oriented and pressure of the senior high school entrance examination and the college entrance examination, most science students have not really completed the tasks stipulated in the history teaching syllabus of middle schools, and their senior high school history exams are often a mere formality. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary for young college students to further study the modern history of China.
