Who was the only champion in Sichuan in the Qing Dynasty?

The only scholar in Sichuan in Qing Dynasty was Luo.

Luo (1865— 1926) is a native of Zizhong, Sichuan. In the twenty-first year of Guangxu, he was the top scholar and went to Shanxi to promote his studies. In the first year of the Republic of China, he served as the speaker of the Sichuan Provincial Assembly, and later taught at Sichuan Law and Politics School and Chengdu Normal University. 1893, Sichuan Zhongxiang took the third place. The next year, he entered Beijing and tried to stay in Beijing. On the recommendation of a friend, he taught the Eight Banners Official School on behalf of Ku.

In the 21st year of Guangxu reign in Qing Dynasty (AD 1895), he was a scholar in No.2 Middle School and took the court exam. Emperor Guangxu's strategy in Lin Xuan was: "Speak differently, be sincere in every sentence, and be ingenious in reasoning." After reading it with Li Ruonong, the examiner and assistant examiner, I found that the words "I am worried about enlightening saints", "I am worried about humiliating ministers" and "I am humiliated by ministers" in the volume were deeply moved by Emperor Guangxu, so I chose the first place.

Luo personal opinion

Although Luo was the top scholar in literature, he was keen on martial arts in his later years and actively advocated the sports of "strengthening the country and strengthening the species". 1920, Luo's son, Luo, came back from studying in Germany and said that some people in Germany specialize in Oriental Jiu Jitsu. Luo was deeply inspired. He thought that the world powers invaded one after another, wantonly carved up China and wanted to defend the country. "I have to talk about the art of hand-to-hand combat", so he deliberately advocated martial arts. There happens to be a Warriors Club in Chengdu, which plays boxing every year, but there are incidents from time to time.

In order to revitalize the Wushu Association, Luo was elected as the president of the Association, and he also donated all the expenses of his inscription for others to the Wushu Association. Later, he personally raised funds, and the Jianguo Art Museum was located in Chengdu Shaocheng Park (now People's Park). Braves from all over Sichuan were moved by the wind, learned jujitsu and combined their fists and feet, and achieved great success. Luo is also diligent in jujitsu. He also likes archery and teaches archery. He often said: "Seeing virtue is not just about defending the enemy and strengthening the body." To this end, he founded the "German Shooting Society".

1926, the Sichuan warlord who was then the ambassador of Xikang was ingenious, held a civil service examination, hired Luo as the chief examiner, and sent someone from Chengdu to meet him in Ya 'an. After the exam, Luo You returned to Chengdu from Mengshan and died soon after, at the age of 6 1.
