Is Gui You's The Story of the Stone an original by Cao Xueqin?

There is evidence to prove that it is the original manuscript of A Dream of Red Mansions, but the authenticity is controversial at present.

Gui You is a Dream of Red Mansions originally held by He Lili (a pseudonym). According to the comments in the book, the book was written in Gui You, so the publisher named it Gui You. The cover of the book was originally titled "A Trial Comment on the Addition and Deletion of Wu's Story of the Stone", and the main contents of the 67th, 8th1~108 have been published.

Because the release of Gui You Edition reveals the contents of A Dream of Red Mansions after the first 80 chapters, the plot ending and structural context are highly consistent with those of the first 80 chapters, and the contents of the last 28 chapters are strikingly consistent with most of the comments in the original 80 chapters of Re-evaluating the Stone in Hongyan Zhai and all the foreshadowing and ending of A Dream of Red Mansions, which is suspected by many readers to be the true version of A Dream of Red Mansions lost after the 80 chapters.

However, the story in the next 28 chapters is a bit absurd, which is far from the study of A Dream of Red Mansions. At present, there is a great controversy about the authenticity of this book.

Some important scenes mentioned in the first 80 comments on writing, such as "Lin Daiyu's ten solo songs, Zhen Baoyu's sending jade, Wei Shooting Garden, Miaoyu Guazhou Ferry's surrender, Xue Baochai's irony, and Wang Xifeng's brave man in know life", have been confirmed in the last 28 chapters of The Story of the Stone, which is an important evidence for the true draft of A Dream of Red Mansions.

In addition, the contents of the last 28 chapters of this book allude to some real events in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, which may be the main reason why the author cut the last 28 chapters and only inherited the first 80 chapters.

Extended data:

At present, there are only 13 versions of the ancient manuscript of The Story of the Stone, and the similarity of these 13 versions is that they only have the first 80 chapters and are still incomplete.

During the Qianlong period, the Cao family flourished for the second time in order to heal the political scars of the previous dynasty. Later, the grandson rebelled and the Cao family was hit again. From then on, Cao Xueqin wrote a book in Huangye Village, and this Dream of Red Mansions was born.

But now, the author of A Dream of Red Mansions has become Wu Meicun, a master of Jiang Zuo, whose writing background is around the Ming Dynasty.
