The Significance of China's Classical Literature Series

1978 Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House, which resumed its organizational system, launched the China Classical Literature Series at the beginning of its establishment.

We have edited and published this set of China classical literature series, which provides a set of systematic basic materials of China classical literature for researchers, teachers in large and medium schools and relevant cultural workers, for readers to analyze and study, and for reference in developing and prospering socialist new culture.

According to different situations, China Classical Literature Series adopts the old notes or concentrated notes of predecessors, generally makes necessary collation and adds new punctuation marks; Some varieties will also appear in the form of new banknotes.

On this basis, Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House compiled a series of bibliographies containing 200 kinds of books. Later, according to the position and influence of writers' works in the history of literature, the bibliography was adjusted to 100, and extensive contributions were collected, edited and published. On the occasion of the revival of the earth, Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House reprinted or revised nearly 10 kinds of classic literature published by Classical Literature Publishing House and Shanghai Editor of Zhonghua Book Company in the decade before the Cultural Revolution, and included them in the series. Subsequently, a number of old scholars' works compiled for many years were published, such as Notes on Mei Ji's Chronicle and Notes on Yuan Hongdao's Collection by Qian Bocheng. In the next twenty years, basically 2-4 kinds of books will be published every year, and new books will be introduced constantly. By the end of 2004, 85 series have been published, and it is estimated that it will take another 5- 10 years. This series of 100 series was completed through the efforts of several generations of scholars and publishers for half a century.
