The original English text of the statement on the importance and value of the World Museum

On February 9th, 2002/kloc-0, 9 European and American museums and research institutions, such as the Louvre, the Paris Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of New York, published the Declaration on the Significance and Value of Global Museums (hereinafter referred to as the Declaration). Although it is impossible to express in the Declaration that "the International Federation of Museums should resolutely not encourage the illegal trade of cultural relics, artworks and works of ethnic minorities". But at the same time, it claimed: "For these previously acquired items, they should be treated according to different values and should reflect the characteristics of the previous era. These monumental works were stored in museums in Europe and America centuries or even decades ago.
