Hebei University of Traditional Chinese Medicine was founded in 1956 and was originally named Hebei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The school is located in Baoding City, Hebei Province. It began to recruit undergraduate students majoring in traditional Chinese medicine in 1957 and was named Hebei University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1958. . In 1962, it merged with Tianjin College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and was named Tianjin College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, affiliated to Hebei Province.
In 1969, Tianjin College of Traditional Chinese Medicine moved to Shijiazhuang City and merged with Hebei Medical College to form Hebei New Medical University. In 1983, the independent setting was restored and enrollment began. In 1995, it merged with Hebei Medical College and Shijiazhuang Medical College to form Hebei Medical University. The establishment of Hebei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine was restored in 2013. On June 6, 2023, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was renamed Hebei University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The school has four campuses: Xingyuan, Juquan, Qizhou and Dongyuan, with a total area of ??596,855.63 square meters (895.28 acres) and a construction area of ??321,900 square meters. The main campus is Xingyuan Campus.
