Who first put forward the word "artistic conception"

The formation and development of artistic conception can be divided into the following three periods: first, the pre-Qin period to the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties is the gestation period of artistic conception; Secondly, the Tang and Song Dynasties were the period of its appearance and formation. Third, the Ming Dynasty to modern times is the period of in-depth development of artistic conception. China's poetry creation, meaning and context have long been formed, but the artistic conception was formally put forward in the Tang Dynasty, and the name of artistic conception was first seen in Wang Changling's poetry. There are three realms in his poems, which opened the precedent of artistic conception types for later generations.

The theory of artistic conception first appeared in literary creation and criticism. There are "image" theory and "realm" theory in the literary creation of the Three Kingdoms, the Jin Dynasty and the Southern and Northern Dynasties. Poets Wang Changling and Jiao Ran in the Tang Dynasty put forward the theories of "framing" and "edge scenery", while literary theorists Liu Yuxi and Si Kongtu further put forward the creative ideas of "image outside the image" and "scenery outside the scene". During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the relationship between meaning and environment was widely discussed. Zhu Cunjue, an art theorist in the Ming Dynasty, put forward the main idea of "virtual reality coexisting with reality". Ye Kui, a poet and literary critic in Qing Dynasty, thought that both meaning and context should be paid equal attention, and emphasized the organic combination of "writing with ease" and "displaying scenery". Modern writer Lin Shu and aesthetician Wang Guowei both emphasize the importance of "meaning". Lin Shu believes that "one person can make an idea, and six people can make an idea"; Wang Guowei believes that poetry creation should be subordinate to creativity, advocates "inner beauty", and puts forward two different aesthetic norms in poetry creation: "the realm with me" and "the realm without me"

In poetry, the word "artistic conception" first appeared in Wang Changling's Poems in the Tang Dynasty, which said: "Poetry has three realms". Put forward the theory of artistic conception, material environment and situation. At the end of the Tang Dynasty, Si Kongtu put forward "thinking is the same as the environment"; Su Shi in Song Dynasty was a "realm and understanding"; Wang Shizhen is a "meeting of God and environment". In the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Chengjue further used this concept clearly in the Poems of Cunyutang. He said: "The beauty of poetry lies in the perfection of artistic conception, except the sound, which is the true taste.

In painting, the word "realm" was first seen in the article "painting meaning" in Lin Zhi by Guo in Song Dynasty. "The realm is ripe, and the heart and hand have already responded. At the beginning, it is moderate, and it is also left and right."

Wang Guowei summed up the achievements of predecessors and established a systematic theory of artistic conception with the concept of western aesthetics. In Shi Shuo Xin Yu, he said: "What is literary is self-adaptive and external, but it has both meaning and context. Those who go to the top are confused about their intentions and environment. Secondly, whether to win by environment or intention. Missing one is not enough to talk about literature. " He regards artistic conception as the only criterion to measure the art of poetry.
