Cerumen is a yellowish viscous secretion secreted by cerumen gland in cartilage of external auditory canal, commonly known as earwax.
After air drying, cerumen is flaky, and some cerumen looks like sticky grease, commonly known as earwax.
Cerumen has the function of protecting the skin of external auditory canal and adhering foreign bodies. Usually, cerumen is discharged through chewing, mouth opening and other sports. If cerumen gradually accumulates and blocks the external auditory canal, it is cerumen embolism. After cerumen embolism, it needs to be soaked in sodium bicarbonate ear drops.
