Among the five mountains, Hengshan Mountain, the oldest mountain in the north, has been in Hebei Province from the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period to the mid-Ming Dynasty, which is today's Damao Mountain in Baoding City, Hebei Province. It was only designated as Shanxi Hunyuan Tianfengling (Xuanwu Mountain) in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty. Ancient records generally refer to Quyang Hengshan (later the administrative area was changed and it was located at the junction of Fuping County, Tang County and Laiyuan County). Quyang Hengshan was renamed Damao Mountain, also known as Shenjian Mountain. Fuping people and Laiyuan people called it Shenxian Mountain. .
In the history of more than 1,700 years from the Qin Dynasty to the early Qing Dynasty, the Hengshan Mountains worshiped by emperors of all dynasties were all in Damao Mountain in Hebei Province. These are recorded in historical books. From the Qin Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty, Beiyue Hengshan Mountain has been in Quyang. To this day, Beiyue Temple still exists in Quyang County, and all dynasties have worshiped Beiyue here.
Natural landscape
Guheng Mountain is the highest mountain within 120 kilometers of Baoding at the junction of the northern part of the North China Plain and the Taihang Mountains. It consists of more than 20 peaks.
