" There are many similar records in ancient medical records, such as using urine to treat headache, sore throat, abdominal pain, fever, lung flaccid cough, hemorrhoids and other diseases. Usage includes direct drinking, decocting, decocting, brewing, sending medicine for drinking, etc. There is also the practice of letting the boy sit in his abdomen and drown in his navel when the ancients encountered acute abdomen and heatstroke fainting.
Historical and cultural origin
The argument that urine is used to treat or supplement diseases has historical and cultural roots. In China's materia medica, human and animal urine and feces have always been regarded as drugs that can treat various intractable diseases, which can be traced back to distant ancient times. Li Shizhen's Compendium of Materia Medica is called reincarnated wine, which belongs to Yuan Tang, especially suitable for a boy. Just like the theoretical framework of traditional Chinese medicine, the treatment of human urine has its mysterious basis. Other human urine products used as medicines include drowning white (white crystals in human urine), Qiu Shi and lithagogue. It can be used for treating various diseases, such as headache due to cold and heat, full symptoms, improving eyesight, moistening skin, benefiting large intestine, relieving cough, flaccidity of lung, relieving fatigue and thirst, moistening heart and lung, stopping hematemesis, stopping epistaxis, treating dystocia, retained placenta, snake bite and dog bite. Ancient Egypt and India also used animal excrement to treat diseases, but the records were not as rich as those in ancient China. In ancient times, people's understanding of nature was chaotic and ignorant. At that time, medicine was completely witchcraft, and of course there was no need to be harsh. However, with the prosperity of modern science and the development of medicine, people still insist on believing in these practices of the ancients, which is worth pondering.
