If there is something wrong with the function of the lung, it is not only the pathological changes of the lung itself, but also the symptoms of phlegm and edema.

The liver is a general, and its main function is to excrete and store blood. The liver is a powerful and impatient general with the characteristics of ascending and initiative. Regulate qi, promote spleen and stomach transport, and regulate emotions. When its function is normal, it is an important guarantee for the spleen and stomach to operate. If there is something wrong with the liver function, there will be chest ribs, breasts, abdominal distension, pain and discomfort, headache, depression or irritability.

Spleen is the official and logistics minister of Cang. It is responsible for transporting, clearing and controlling blood. Spleen function is normal, human digestion and absorption function is sound, and human health is good. If the spleen function declines, it will cause diarrhea or dry stool, loss of appetite, fatigue and emaciation.

The kidney is a powerful official, and the kidney is in charge of storing essence and controlling body fluid. Essence is the basic substance that constitutes the human body. "Essence is also the foundation of life." The rise and fall of kidney essence plays a decisive role in human growth and reproductive function. At the same time, essence nourishes and moistens all kinds of viscera and tissues. Once the renal function is out of balance, there will be kidney deficiency, such as irritability, night sweats, dizziness, tinnitus, backache and knee weakness.

The stomach is the sea of water valley and the source of five internal organs.

Five flavors into the stomach, each has its own fun. Therefore, acid enters the liver first, bitter enters the heart first, sweet enters the spleen first, pungent enters the lung first, salty enters the kidney first, and long-term qi supplement often materializes.

According to the relationship between the five elements, we can know that "too salty and sad, too bitter and hurt the liver, too sour and hurt the spleen, too sweet and hurt the kidney, too bitter and hurt the lungs". Therefore, there are five prohibitions in Huangdi Neijing: bitter liver disease, salty heart disease, sour spleen disease, bitter lung disease and sweet kidney disease.

Heart hates heat, lung hates cold, liver hates wind, spleen hates dampness and kidney hates dryness.
