Built in 684 A.D., Ganling is a unique mausoleum of the couple's palace in the world, where Tang Gaozong Li Zhi and Wu Zetian are buried. The mausoleum area is magnificent, and the most striking thing is the statue of the stone crowd outside Zhuquemen, which is neatly and respectfully arranged in front of Yuling, as if lined up to welcome the arrival of the emperor. The world-famous stone tablet of Wu Zetian stands on the east side of Sima Dao outside Zhuquemen, and its exquisite carving art is particularly prominent in the stone carving of the whole Ganling Mausoleum, which is also one of the few ancient imperial tombs that have not been excavated in China. The unearthed cultural relics all come from tombs buried with Ganling, such as Princess Yongtai's tomb and Prince Yide's tomb.

The historical Ganling was built in 684 AD, and it took 23 years for the project to be basically completed. Magnificent momentum. Ganling is located in Liangshan, 6 kilometers north of Ganxian County, Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province. The mausoleum area is modeled after Chang 'an, the capital of Shaanxi Province. Liangshan is a conical limestone mountain with * * * three peaks. The northern peak is the highest, with an altitude of 1047.9 meters, and the dry mausoleum is just above the northern peak. The two peaks in the south of Liangshan are low-lying, facing east and west, with Sima Dao in the middle, so these two peaks are named.

Exploration shows that the total area of the inner city is 2.4 million square meters. There are Zhuque Gate in the south, Xuanwu Gate in the north, Qinglong Gate in the east and Baihu Gate in the west. Stepping on the stone steps from the gate of Ganlingtou, there are 537 steps, and the height difference of the steps is 81.68m.. Walking through the steps is a flat and wide road until you reach the Tang Gaozong Mausoleum Monument, which is called Sima Dao.

There are 17 buried tombs and unearthed cultural relics Ganling. There are two tombs of princes (Prince Zhang Huai and Prince Li Zhongrun of Yide), three tombs (Wang Zeli, Xu Wangli and Wang Bing Li Shouli), four tombs of princesses (Princess Yiyang, Princess Xindu, Princess Anxing and Princess Yongtai) and eight tombs of ministers (Wang Jishan, Xue Yuanchao, Yang Zai Si, Liu Shenli, King Dou Luqin, Liu Rengui and Li Jin). 1960~ 197 1 year, five tombs, including Princess Yongtai, Prince Yide, and Zhongshu Xue, were successively excavated, and more than 4,300 precious cultural relics were unearthed. Among them, there are more than 65,438+000 colorful tomb murals, which can be called a magnificent art gallery in ancient China. Murals such as Ma Qiutu, Hakka, Watching Birds and Catching Cicadas, Hunting and Ritual are not only helpful to the study of paintings in the Tang Dynasty, but also to the study of architecture, costumes, customs, sports activities, court life and foreign affairs in the Tang Dynasty.
