Lishan is a section of the Zhongtiao Mountains, located at the junction of the four counties of Yicheng, Yuanqu, Yangcheng and Qinshui in southern Shanxi. It has been listed as a provincial nature reserve in Shanxi Province.
Lishan, with an altitude of 2,321 meters, is the highest peak in southern Shanxi Province. Lishan Nature Reserve has a total area of ??359,200 acres. The natural vegetation is dominated by temperate and warm temperate deciduous, broad-leaved, coniferous forests and deciduous shrubs. This is the place with the largest variety and quantity of animal and plant resources in Shanxi Province. The nature reserve is home to many rare animals such as macaques, golden eagles, and musk deer. Among them, macaques are the only monkey species in northern my country, and there are also "salam fish" in mountain streams.
Lishan is both a nature reserve and a primeval forest scenic spot, and is known as a "natural park". The strange peaks and caves here complement each other with the green mountains and blue streams, forming a splendid scenery of "green mountains, beautiful waters, strange caves and beautiful rocks". Strange peaks, strange rocks, clear streams, caves, and ice curtains are collectively known as the "Five Wonders", while Lin Tao, mountain breeze, ice and snow, fog and rain, light and shadow, historical sites, plants, animals, medicinal materials, and villages are the "Ten Wonders". Mainly natural scenery: "wonderful" landscapes, which constitute 7 scenic spots and more than 100 scenic spots in the tourist area.
On Mount Li, the famous King Shun Ping is the crown of all scenery. Shunwangping is located at the junction of Xiachuan Township in the southwest of Qinshui County and Yuanqu, Yangcheng and Yicheng. It is the main peak of Mount Li. According to legend, Shun once cultivated here, and later generations called it "Shun Wangping". Shunwangping is a naturally formed "Sixili Paoma Ping", which is covered with soft green grass.
In Lishan, there are "Welcoming Pines" and "Stone Pine Scenery" with tall pines. There is no soil all over the stone pine scenery on the independent roadside. However, there are pine trees on it. With their tenacious vitality, they break through the stone and sprout and take root in the soil. It is amazing.
There are two grand canyons on Mount Li, namely the East Gorge and the West Gorge. The bottom of the gorge is more than 5 kilometers long, with a clear spring passing through it. In the gorge, rocks are stacked on top of each other, and water flows around the rocks. Going inward, the "ice curtain hanging upside down" and "a line of sky" scenery are alluring.
There are many natural caves in Lishan, and Baiyun Cave has been developed for tourists to enjoy. Baiyun Cave is more than 1,500 meters deep, more than 20 meters high, and 30 meters wide. Inside the cave, there are natural stone pillars, stone birds, stone animals, stone beds, stone books, stone lamps, stone lotus flowers, etc., which are of great ornamental value.
Xiachuan Village, the center of the tourist area, is 1,575 meters above sea level, with a moderate climate, cool and pleasant climate.
