Da ji likes to watch songs and dances, and Zhou Wang lets Shi Juan, a musician, create decadent and obscene dances to fan the flames. Zhou Wang also set up a "wine pool" in Weizhou, and hung meat on trees to make a "meat forest", with as many as 3,000 people in each seat, so that men and women could chase naked and have a carnival all night. Nine marquis (fief in present-day Linzhang, Hebei Province) had a beautiful daughter who was called into the palace and killed because she didn't like da ji's lewdness. Nine marquis was also punished by "Hai", chopped into meat sauce and distributed to princes.
Da ji likes to watch The Punishment of Branding. He painted oil and charcoal on the copper pillar, making the prisoner walk on it, plunged into hot charcoal and screamed from time to time. When da ji heard the prisoner scream, he laughed as if he had heard music that stimulated the senses. In order to win da ji's smile, Zhou Wang imposed heavy penalties.
Zhou Wang's ignorance aroused the people's resistance. Zhou Wuwang took the opportunity to lead the governors to attack, and destroyed the business in one fell swoop in the battle of Makino. Zhou Wang fled to Lutai and set himself on fire, while da ji hanged himself. Later generations often regard da ji as a typical example of female pets' disorderly administration.
