China West Normal University is a key university in Sichuan Province. The school was founded in 1946, and its predecessor was War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's National Northeastern University.

The library is the key protection unit of ancient books in Sichuan Province. It has more than 3 million paper books, 2.2 million e-books, 63 Chinese and foreign language databases, and more than 5600 kinds and 74,000 ancient books. Libraries are open to the public free of charge.
