Shandong Institute of Marine Resources and Environment was established in 1957, located in Yantai, a port city on the coast of the Yellow Sea. It is a multi-disciplinary and comprehensive provincial public welfare key scientific research institution, which is affiliated to Shandong Provincial Department of Natural Resources. It mainly undertakes the research on the development planning of marine and related industries, provides technical support for the monitoring, evaluation, statistics and accounting of marine economic operation, undertakes the basic investigation and research on marine science and marine biology related technologies, studies on marine ecological restoration technology, rational development and utilization of marine resources and comprehensive utilization of seawater desalination, island protection, utilization and restoration, and application research on marine satellite remote sensing data, and studies the quality inspection, quality control and high-value utilization of marine aquatic products, and provides technical consultation for the society. He has undertaken hundreds of national, provincial and ministerial scientific research projects and won more than 50 awards at all levels/kloc-0. Many achievements have reached the international leading and advanced level, which has made important contributions to promoting the construction of marine ecological civilization and implementing the strategy of strengthening the country by sea.
