abstract
Paul and his girlfriend Barbara are celebrating the new Internet company with wealthy businessman Howard and his wife Vicky. Four people celebrate on Howard's yacht. When they were in high spirits, Howard's yacht didn't hit the rocks much, and Vicky was trapped inside. Paul and Barbara had to go to a nearby fishing village for help.
Imboca, a seemingly isolated town, residents secretly observed the purpose of these two strangers. This is a Cthulhu-style film. We can clearly see the traces of the novel The Haze of Innsmouth, and there is no doubt that the script is adapted from this novel. But the Cthulhu-style horror is obviously not reflected in this film. The horror in Cthulhu mythology lies in "atmosphere", and the existence of "former dominator" and other horrors is often not revealed.
Instead, I highlight my horror through some hints or traces left behind, such as deformed human believers (deep divers in this film), weird statues, terrible legends and so on. After all, the imagination of the audience is the scariest place. Therefore, as a film dedicated to expressing "Romanesque horror", its shooting technique is too "straightforward".
