A Cultural Journey with Pen, Ink and Paper —— The spoiler of the 9th Cross-Strait College Students' Cultural Experience Camp came to the third issue, and the most familiar writing tool was paper. As the only member of "Four Treasures of the Study" who entered "four great inventions of ancient china", paper has been playing an irreplaceable role in the exchange, inheritance and development of China culture and even world civilization since its birth. The pen is thick and thick, and the paper must be dropped to finish it; A monument, a post, a poem and a painting, without paper, are difficult to spread. Paper is the recorder, carrier and witness. In the current "keyboard era" and "touch screen era", it is its long-term cultural persistence that keeps the simple temperature of writing and reading for us.

Today, many areas in China still retain the tradition of making paper by hand. Dongba paper of Naxi nationality in Yunnan, mulberry paper of Hotan in Xinjiang, hemp paper of Qinyuan in Shaanxi, bamboo paper of Jiajiang in Sichuan and Fuyang in Zhejiang, etc. , are the best in ancient handmade paper. But what really has the reputation of "the king of paper" is Xuan paper, which originated in the Tang Dynasty, matured in the Song and Yuan Dynasties, flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, flourished today and passed down for thousands of years.

According to legend, Xuan Paper was founded by Cai Lun's disciple Kong Dan, and carried forward by Cao Dasan in the Song Dynasty. During the war at the end of the Song Dynasty, Cao Daisan fled to Xiaoling, Jingxian County, Xuancheng. Because the fields were scarce and could not be cultivated, they chose to make a living by making paper. Cao Dasan inherited the paper-making technology of his predecessors, and gradually improved it on this basis, and finally made a good white and pure paper (Xiao Shi's genealogy). Because the distribution center of paper is mostly in Xuancheng, it is named Xuan paper.

How many processes does it take to make a traditional handmade rice paper? Why can rice paper be as clean as new after thousands of years? Is it accidental or inevitable that Xuan paper was born in Jingxian County? This experience camp will lead campers to visit China Xuan Paper Cultural Park, Hongxing Paper Factory and Cao Paper Factory in Jingxian County, the hometown of Xuan Paper. Under the guidance of "great country craftsmen", watch the key processes of making Xuan paper, experience hand-made paper, pay homage to Cao Juvenile, the ancestor of Xuan paper, and feel the unique Xuan paper culture.

Xuan paper has the characteristics of toughness but not slippery, gloss but not slippery, white and dense, pure texture, lossless rubbing and strong ink wetting. Writing is both bone and spirit, and painting is radiant. Coupled with aging resistance, no discoloration, less moth-eaten, long life, it has the reputation of "the king of paper". A large number of precious ancient books and ink of famous painters and calligraphers handed down in China are mostly preserved with rice paper. Every paper is a perfect combination of "nature" and "man-made".
