Why did the British and Americans learn Latin in history?

Latin is the language of ancient Rome. After the demise of the Western Roman Empire, because the barbarian languages were not unified, the Vatican used Latin as the official language of Christianity, and countries themselves did not accumulate culture, so Latin became their common language. The languages of all countries are created on the basis of Latin.
