Brief introduction of Asoka Temple

Ashoka Temple, located at the foot of Taibai Mountain, Bao Zhuang, Wuxiang Town, Yinzhou District, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, was built in Taikang, Emperor Wu of the Western Jin Dynasty for three years, with a history of 1700 years.

Asoka Temple, known as the Southeast Buddhist country, is a famous Zen Buddhist temple, one of the five Buddhist mountains in China, and the only existing Millennium temple named after Indian Asoka in China. It is famous at home and abroad for its Buddhist treasures and exquisite stupas. /kloc-0 was announced by the State Council in 1984 as a key Buddhist temple in the Han area of China. On May 25th, 2006, Asoka Temple, as an ancient building from Yuan Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, was approved by the State Council as the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

There are relatively complete historical monuments, stone carvings, plaques, ancient books and other cultural relics in Ashoka Temple, including Tang Fan's Monument to the Permanent Site of Ashoka Temple, Song Sushi's Monument to Chen Kuige, 90% of the Miao's Complete Ming, and 58 modern stone carvings in Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, including the right statues of the four heavenly kings in Tang Dynasty, the Sixteen Stone Carvings in Tang Guanxiu and the Stone Carvings in Tang Guanxiu.

Ashoka Temple now covers an area of 124 100 square meters, with a building area of 23,400 square meters. There are more than 600 existing temples, halls, buildings, pavilions and pavilions, which are built on the mountain. On the central axis, there are Shanmen, Ershanmen, Fangshengchi, Tianwang Hall, Daxiong Hall, Relic Hall, Dharma Hall and Tibetan Scripture Building in turn. On the right, there are 36 rooms1such as Yunshui Hall, Zhifeng Caotang, Cui Shi Building, Zushi Hall, Chengen Hall, Abbot Hall, Chen Kuige and Liao Fang, and on the left, there are 264 rooms such as Songguangzhai, Bell Tower, Relic, Xianjue Hall and Compassion Pavilion.

Daxiong Hall was rebuilt during the reign of Kangxi in Qing Dynasty, with a circular plaque on it. The relic hall was built in 1678 with double eaves and a yellow glazed tile roof. There is a stone stupa embedded with seven treasures. This tower is blue, with five floors, four corners and four windows. There are statues of bodhisattvas on each floor, with treasures and relics hanging on the top. There are only two Yuan pagodas in Zhejiang Province, which are brick and wood structures, like pavilions and pavilions, with six sides and seven floors, each with a waist and eaves, and a veranda around the bottom.
