It was first published in Gan Kun Shang, a comprehensive medical work written by Zhu Quan in Ming Dynasty, and was later included in Acupuncture Daquan and Acupuncture Dacheng. On the basis of the "Four General Acupoint Songs", later generations added four acupoints that are important to the human body, and now there is the "Eight Essential Acupoint Songs of the Human Body".

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that "the meridians are connected, and the indications are", and Lieque point is the collateral point of the lung meridian of the Taiyin hand, and at the same time it can communicate with the large intestine meridian of the Yangming hand, which can regulate the qi of the two meridians, while the Yangming hand meridian runs from the neck of the hand to the head and lower teeth. Theoretically, the places where the two meridians pass can be adjusted by Lieque point.
