There are twelve zodiac signs, Nanfangbuzhou, who were born as human beings, and who were under the underworld before, and each borrowed longevity to make money. There was an official with an inscription who bowed to the human way, and saw the current storage space, urging Nanfangbuzhou, and all living beings paid longevity and made money, Ah It is difficult to ask the World Honored One again.
Many living beings in Nanfanbuzhou have great wishes that they cannot fulfill, as the Buddha said. Teach the Diamond Sutra to read the Sutra of Longevity and Prosperity, which can break one's life's money. It is very powerful for the realization of the sutra. If sentient beings do not pay for longevity and life's money, they will be frightened while sleeping, and their dreams will be upside down. If there is a good man or a good woman who can live longer and make money by spending money, he will avoid all kinds of disasters around him. Fools do not know how to recite Mahayana sutras and prefer to believe in such fabricated apocryphal sutras. We must restore life, break through hell, and break through the blood lake before we can feel at ease. People with sense will not believe it because it is false. It should be noted that when doing Buddhist deeds, chanting the name of Buddha has the greatest merit. If you use the money to restore life, destroy hells, and destroy lakes of blood, please ask monks with righteous thoughts to recite the Buddha's name, and the benefits will be great.
Since ancient times, in the process of the spread of Buddhism, there have been interferences from some folk beliefs and heretics and other similar methods. Those without wisdom will still believe it and have their knowledge reversed. So here, Master Yinguang specifically points out what things should not be done.
People who recite the Buddha's name must be wise and have correct beliefs and views, and cannot imitate those foolish people. So what do these foolish people do?

There is a kind of Buddhist thing called "Returning Longevity and Life". There is a sutra called "Buddha Speaks of Longevity and Life". This sutra is an apocrypha, but many people believe in it.
What does the Longevity Sutra mean?
It is said that in the underworld, some ghosts want to be reborn and want to live in a wealthy family (a good place). They have to go to the underworld to borrow some money first, so that they can invest in a good place.
He first borrowed the capital (just like doing business, you need to have capital), but when he was reincarnated in the human realm, when he was dying, those people from the underworld urged him to pay back the money, and he refused. Money will suffer disasters of one kind or another. Therefore, it is necessary to "repay longevity" and burn a lot of paper and a lot of ingots to repay. This is one of a kind.
There is another kind of "sending to the warehouse". "Jiku" means wishing to become a ghost after death so that you can enjoy wealth and honor in the ghost realm. So he had to prepare some money in advance (burning a lot of paper houses, high-rise buildings, a lot of money) for future expenses.
It would be easier if you just burn these things. What's more, you can do various Buddhist deeds as enjoyment for future ghosts. There is also a further point of view: if you recite the Buddha's name, there will be a piece of it. Ingots, the more you recite them, the more ingots you will use when you become a ghost in the future. These all fall within the scope of "send to the warehouse".
Here Yinzu said that these "returning life and rebirth" sutras are not real Buddhist sutras, but were forged by later generations; "Jiku", if you wish to become a ghost after death, and you have the heart to be a ghost, Then you can't be reborn even if you chant the Buddha's name. So these are some very ignorant people among the people. They will come up with these things and are very persistent in doing them.
What Yinzu raised here are all the problems that were often encountered in that era, so I would like to tell you here that if you have not done Buddhist rituals such as "returning longevity to life" and "sending to the treasury", you must Don't do such Buddhist things.
If you have already done this Buddhist thing, you have to do some saving methods and confess in front of the Buddha with a sincere heart:
Disciple so-and-so just wants to be reborn in the Western Paradise. , all the funds that were previously "sent to the treasury" for use in the underworld were used to help those lonely souls and ghosts.
In this way, your recollection of this thought will not become an obstacle to rebirth in the Western Paradise.
A practitioner who chants Buddha’s name must make a vow. This vow must correspond to the vows of Amitabha. You should not correspond to ghosts. Amitabha’s vow is to accept us in our rebirth, and then we make a wish to be reborn. These two vows are the same. Problems of life and death can be solved by sensing Taojiao.
So dedicating vows is very important. Dedicating vows belongs to the scope of wisdom. Therefore, if we understand the Pure Land Sutras, understand the power of Amitabha’s great compassionate vows, and understand the conditions for rebirth, it is to make our faith and vows have a Clear direction, no ambiguity. When we have a correct concept of this faith, these foolish practices will disappear.

The full name of "Xuepen Sutra" is "Mulian Orthodox Xuepen Sutra". He said that once Maha Moggallana went to the underworld and found that there was a blood basin pool in hell (the blood basin means Those women's menstrual blood, blood from childbirth), there are many women suffering there.
Moggallana was very sad and asked the Buddha what to do. The Buddha said that these women should be filial to their parents, take refuge in the Three Jewels, do the Blood Basin Fast, recite the Blood Basin Sutra, and so on, in order to solve the problem of suffering from the blood pool in hell.
Many people still believe in this sutra, so they do Xuepen fasting, Xuepen puja and so on. When it was spread to Japan, the Japanese quite believed in this sutra. But it is apocryphal.
Like other "Taiyin", "Taiyang", "Buddha Speaks of Eyesight Sutra", "Tai Shang Ling Bao Bu Stoo King Sutra", "Buddha Speaks of Parents' Gratitude to Fetal Bone Sutra", "Buddha Speaks of Parents' Gratitude to Fetal Bones" "Speaking of the Miaosha Sutra" and so on, these are all forged by illusory people, so don't read them.
Nowadays, we often receive some Buddhist scriptures in temples. At first glance, it seems that they are not from the right way. Therefore, everyone must pay attention: It is good that you have the motivation to circulate Dharma treasures, but you must have wisdom. Make a decision based on your perspective.
Generally, the sutras entered into Tibet are reliable, especially those that have been appraised by eminent monks and submitted to the court for approval, such as the "Long Zang". Those that are included in the "Long Zang" are more reliable, but the others Collections and sequels compiled by later generations can be used as reference.
There are many printed classics on the market - some altar-type books, the content of which is nothing more than, what did Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva say when he came to the altar? What's going on? Do not print these things. Some of the words you say are not related to Buddhist teachings. Even if they are consistent, those who have come down from the altar should not circulate them.
The merits of circulating Buddhist scriptures are immeasurable, but if you circulate some apocryphal and heretical scriptures and mislead sentient beings about their Dharma body and wisdom, this sin is also very serious.
So when you are not sure, you should not circulate easily.

Yinzu is also listed here, such as the Amitabha Sutra, the Infinite Life Sutra, the Infinite Life Sutra, the Heart Sutra, the Diamond Sutra, the Medicine Master Sutra, The Lotus Sutra, the Surangama Sutra, the Avatamsaka Sutra, the Samantabhadra Sutra, etc., which have passed the test of time, are indeed Buddhist sutras. You don’t recite these Mahayana classics, but recite those apocryphal scriptures such as the "Shou Sheng Sutra", "The Blood Basin Sutra", "The Stove King Sutra" and so on, and then implement them. In terms of action, we must do these Buddhist deeds: "restore longevity" and "break hell". This in itself is bad knowledge on your part.
In some places, Buddhist rituals of "breaking hell" are performed. The lively and bustling scenes are ridiculous at first glance.

He thinks that he can feel at ease after doing these Buddhist rituals, and that by doing such Buddhist rituals he will not go to hell. Therefore, even if some sensible people told him that these were apocryphal books, he would not believe them.
The wisdom of sentient beings nowadays is indeed very poor. They will believe in some evil things, but they often do not believe in those things that are righteous.
You see, if someone can cure some diseases, do some sensing, do some fortune-telling, and tell your family about good and bad fortunes, everyone will flock to them all of a sudden. Then there are some people who take advantage of this mentality to make money, pretend to be ordinary people, and say a lot of things in secret (they don’t say it in public places), because as soon as they say these things, people with a discerning eye will know that they are fake. .
So he circulated some pamphlets among the believers, painted himself up, and talked about it very highly - mythology. Sometimes when others show us these pamphlets, we all find them ridiculous and terrifying. .
So in the process of belief at home and abroad, cults will appear. Because many people pursue these things, they are controlled by some people. There are quite a few underground things like this.
In the Age of Dharma Ending, phenomena like this will become more and more popular, and "evil masters preach the Dharma like the sand of the Ganges." From this we can see that these words spoken by the Buddha are indeed true.
So why do we want everyone to read the works of our ancestors and read these time-tested books of correct knowledge and views.
Although these books on right knowledge and views are indeed very plain and do not talk about mystery or supernatural powers, and even ordinary people may find them tasteless, but this Dharma is indeed a royal way - for us Light, give us relief!
If you pursue those weird things, your evil thoughts will inspire those weird heretics to join you, and you will be out of control. Therefore, we must believe in the words of the Buddha.
So, no matter whether you are doing Buddhist deeds to eliminate disasters, extend life or recommend death, Yinzu has a unique insight and advocates: "Only chanting the name of Buddha has the greatest merit."
Some of Yinzu’s disciples sometimes reported to Yinzu that they wanted to do water and land rituals because they had something to do at home. So I came to ask Yin Zu if he could do it. Yinzu advised him not to do water and land rituals and to recite Buddha's name carefully.
But today’s sentient beings like excitement, complexity, and things like inner and outer circles. They think this is very good, so a team (professional team) appears in this area.
To do these things of salvation, you must be a person with great bodhicitta and strict precepts. What would be the effect if a team that made a living doing Buddhist scriptures and repentance performed these Buddhist rituals? If you think about it, you can imagine that it would be better to sincerely recite the Buddha's name and dedicate it to the Buddha.
When you do those Buddhist rituals of reciting sutras - you recite the sutras very fast, or even skip a section and continue reciting, all of these situations occur.
So, if a person who does sutra repentance does not do it sincerely, his end will not be good.
Master Renchi told a koan in "Bamboo Window Essay":
There is a very dark hell in hell, and there are some monks doing sutras and repentance there. Every long period of time, a bright light like lightning would come over, and these monks in the darkness would quickly use this light to chant sutras, and they would chant again and again.
Why? When he was doing sutra repentance in the mortal world, he skipped a section and did not read it to anyone. Then you can make up for it in hell! It won't come out until it's finished.
Therefore, Yinzu said that when doing Buddhist deeds, "only chanting the name of Buddha has the greatest merit." This is also true from the bottom of my heart, and you should believe it.
It will be more beneficial if you invite those monks who have moral conduct and righteous thoughts to recite the Buddha's name, so don't spend the unjust money. You should also recite these righteous thoughts of the monks, and your relatives will resonate with each other and be related by nature.
If you recite the sutra very quickly, you will not be able to keep up, but you should be able to keep up when reciting the six-character Hong Ming. It is clear and clear, so the merits are the greatest.
Yinzu always talked about this matter, and Master Hongyi also praised it. They all advocated chanting Buddha's name instead of doing various Buddhist services, but not many people actually implemented it.
