What are the famous architectural books in ancient China?

Mu Jing 1

"Wooden Book" is a book about building construction methods, and it is also the first manual of wooden architecture in China history. Unfortunately, this book was later lost. In the Northern Song Dynasty, Shen Kuo recorded it briefly in Meng Qian's Bi Tan, and the Wood Classic made detailed and specific provisions on the specifications of various parts of the building and the proportion of components, which was widely adopted by later generations. The publication of wooden classics not only promoted the exchange and improvement of architectural technology at that time, but also had a great influence on the development of architectural technology later. The book "Creating French Style" edited by Li Jie is based on wooden classics in many places.

Step 2 create a French style

Architectural Style was edited by Yu Xining (1068- 1077), written by Fu Yuan (1 100) and published by Song Chongning (1 103). It's Li Jie who lives in Zhejiang and Zhejiang provinces. It is a standard book of architectural design and construction officially promulgated by the Northern Song Dynasty. It is the most complete architectural technical work in ancient China, marking the development of ancient architecture in China to a higher stage.

3. Examples of engineering practice

In order to strengthen the management of the construction industry in the Qing Dynasty, in the 12th year of Yongzheng (1734), the Ministry of Industry compiled and published a technical book, Engineering Practice, as a basis for controlling the budget, practice and quantity of government staff. The book includes 17 professional contents such as masonry, hoisting with materials and oil painting pasting, and 27 design examples of typical buildings. Although the book is not perfect, it is a fairly complete material to study the architectural technical level in the early Qing Dynasty. In addition, the Qing government also compiled a variety of specific engineering practice cases, practice books, material values and other books related to architecture as auxiliary materials. At the same time, many manuscripts of engineering practice have been handed down by craftsmen, so the written materials of building construction in Qing Dynasty are the most abundant in all previous dynasties. At the same time, in the government's engineering management department, a style room and a calculation room were specially set up to take charge of engineering design and write off funds, which played a great role in improving the management quality of palace government projects. Lei Fada's family in the style room and Liu Tingzan's family in the sales room are all famous engineers in the Qing Dynasty. Engineering Practice of Ministry of Industry and Construction Law of Song Dynasty are considered as two grammar textbooks of China architecture.
