What are the main problems in the protection and management of geological relics in China?
1. The basic situation of geological relics is unclear, lacking systematic, complete and informative basic data. 2. The number of geological relics protection areas is too small, accounting for only about 2% of the total number of nature reserves. Many precious geological relics have not been effectively protected. 3. Geological relics have been seriously damaged. Some important paleontological fossil sites and important geological landscapes have been damaged to varying degrees, such as dinosaur eggs in Xixia, Henan Province, many caves in Guangxi, and volcanic landform in Wudalianchi, Heilongjiang Province. 4. The management organization is not perfect and the management is not in place. 5. The lack of special protection funds has seriously restricted the development of geological relics protection. 6. The laws and regulations on the protection of geological relics lack authority, and the publicity of existing laws and regulations is not enough. 7. There is not enough communication with foreign countries in the protection of geological relics, and it is difficult to integrate with international common practices.
