Jiujiang Library, formerly known as Jiangxi Provincial Construction Department Library, was founded in 1939 Jiangxi Taihe. It was renamed as private Tianyi Library and private Zhang Yu Library. 1946 moved to Jiujiang and changed to Jiujiang Library. After the founding of New China, it was officially renamed Jiujiang Library, and now it is a national first-class library.

1997, the municipal party Committee and municipal government decided to build a new museum on Lushan South Road in the urban area. In July 2003, the new library of Jiujiang City was built and opened to the public. The new library has a building area of 14068 square meters, and a designed collection of books of 1 10,000 volumes, providing modern knowledge and information services such as book borrowing, e-reading, reference service, information retrieval and document reproduction.
It also has an academic lecture hall, a multi-function hall and an exhibition hall.
