It turns out that Wang Yangming's former life was an old monk who meditated. He used to be closed, but he still comes from Kailai today, leaving a little proof for future generations. To commemorate this event, Wang Yangming once left a poem in Jinshan Temple:

Jinshan is as big as a fist, breaking the underwater sky;

Last month, Yu Di blew a hole and the dragon fell asleep.

Like a monk with hair, like a vulgar dust;

As a loving person, you can realize the outside world.

It means that although I am a family with hair, I am a Buddhist shaman who has a yearning for the Tao; Although living in five desires and six dusts, it is not polluted by vulgar dust. Sighing that life is like a dream, and there is fatigue outside, it is really "six interests in the dream, and nothing after sleep."

Hirohito, the fifth ancestor of Zen Buddhism

Hong Ren, the fifth ancestor of Zen Buddhism, also has a well-known samsara karma. Hong Ren was an old man who planted pine trees at the foot of Broken Head Mountain in his last life. He respected the Taoist beliefs of the four ancestors and demanded to become a monk. Taoist beliefs doubt that he is too old to be widely used, so we have to comfort him and say:

"If you come back from reincarnation, I may be able to wait for you on earth for a few years."

The old man said goodbye to his four ancestors and came to the stream. When he saw a great girl, he asked:

Girl! Can I borrow your house? '

I have a father and a brother in the world, so I can't decide. You can ask them.

I dare to go only if you promise.

As soon as the girl saw dusk, an old man came to ask for accommodation and nodded. Strange to say, the unmarried girl got pregnant when she came home. Her parents thought it was bad for her, so they kicked her out of the house and became a maid. Later, a chubby baby boy was born. The unfortunate mother wanted to abandon the ominous child in the river, but the child went upstream and had to beg to raise him. Not knowing the origin of his father, people in the village called him "no surname". At the age of six or seven, those who have no surnames are smart, lively and lovely. One day, Tao Xin Zen master Honghua came here. No surname, seeing the Taoist mind, holding the Buddhist monk's vestment affectionately, asked the Taoist mind to become a monk. Jackson saw a child, touched his head and said:

You are too young to become a monk.

Master! You used to think I was too old, but now you think I am too young. When will you allow me to become a monk? No surname, just like an adult, questioning the Zen master.

Hearing this, the Taoist priest suddenly felt something and quickly asked him:

My child, what's your last name and name? Where do you live? '

My name is Wuer and I live in Shili Lane.

Everyone has a last name. How can you lie and say you don't have a last name? What's your last name? '

I take Buddha as my surname, so I have no surname.

Dao Xin was very happy to hear that. At an early age, his tone was so loud that it turned out to be a three-treasure dragon elephant, a multiplier. Later, he taught him the mantle and became the fifth ancestor of Zen. His disciples came forth in large numbers and made brilliant flowers for China Zen.

There are five points worth studying in this story:

(1) does have reincarnation. The former life of the valley was originally a rural woman in Wuhu County, southern Anhui Province. After his death, he was reincarnated in Huanggu, a male corpse in xiushui county, northern Jiangxi.

(2) There is indeed karma. From the previous seed reason, it produced results. Yuan Mei, a scholar in the Ming Dynasty, said: "It is too late to study again in this life." . Today's gifted children should belong to this principle. As for changing from a woman to a man, with fame, it is extremely obvious that it comes from Buddhism, vegetarianism, filial piety, not marrying and other karma.

(3) There is indeed a soul. The human body is a tangible body composed of four kinds of illusions: earth, water, fire and wind, while the soul is the master of the body, but it is invisible. It is called the eighth knowledge in Buddhism, also known as Aye knowledge. When the valley rests in the state capital, the soul will still return to its hometown and accept its mother's celery noodles, thus promoting the reunion of regeneration. Araya will be a master when he goes. When he left Wuhu village and flew to Xiushui Huang's house, he flew all the way in an instant, not to mention flying fast. Why is he looking for the Huang family? Buddhism says this is "karma", but does karma itself have the ability to choose? Is this mixed up again? It turns out that if you look up three feet, there will be gods. There are many ghosts and gods who observe good and evil in the void. They know everything in the world, no matter what is hidden. It is really "if you don't know, you have to do it yourself."

The evil that has been shown in behavior can never be concealed; Even if the heart is connected, it will be seen by ghosts and gods. But the world can't see it, but it thinks what it thinks. Who knows? Therefore, we can see that the scope of karma should include tangible behavior and intangible mind. The power generated by karma determines people's interests, and ghosts and gods will match. This is where the Yellow Valley was born. There is also a standard for the combination of ghosts and gods, otherwise ghosts and gods are the masters. Standard is the karma of Buddhism. After all, the whole hour is karma. Buddhism says that karma is connected with three generations, or not only three generations, but several generations. In this way, it is no coincidence that the birth of Huanggu must have its karma.

(4) According to the laws of the world, this story can be regarded as a success, because one good thing deserves another. She not only saved a rare person, but also changed from a woman to a man, achieving fame, which was obviously improved compared with previous lives. But according to the secular law, it is not successful, because it is still within the six divisions of the wheel of karma, and once reborn, it loses its nature. And with fame and fortune, it is easier to bully others and create bad karma.

When I was a teenager in the valley, influenced by the big environment, I liked to fill in some sad lyrics about the love between men and women. On one occasion, I went to a Buddhist temple with Li, a boy my age who is good at drawing horses, and visited the Zen master Yuan Tong, a contemporary Taoist. Unfortunately, the Zen master showed depravity because he couldn't bear to watch him indulge in erotic lyrics, so when he warned Li, he told him to stop drawing horses, because when drawing horses, his mind was on them. Then he reprimanded the valley: "A gentleman with unparalleled literary talent actually used it to write sad songs that are unhelpful to the world but moving and evil?" After hearing this reprimand, the valley smiled and said, "According to the Zen master, will I become a horse like Li?" After listening to his rebuttal, Master Xiu said solemnly and sincerely: "Li wanted to draw a horse and simulated it for a long time. It is inevitable that he will degenerate into a horse without knowing it, but it is also his own business. And you made that stirring sad poem, I don't know how many people will have evil thoughts and lust after reading it. This kind of adulterous behavior is just a change of horse. I'm afraid hell is waiting for you. "

Valley was hit hard by the truth of justice and retribution. Knowing that Master Xiu is a learned monk, he will never scare people with empty talk. Suddenly, he suddenly realized the stakes, so he apologized to Master Xiu in great fear and vowed never to write that sad poem again.

(5) Valley is the most filial to mother. His mother loves cleanliness, so he washed the drowning device for her himself. Although I became an official later, I still have to do it myself. This is his filial virtue, so he was chosen as one of the twenty-four filial piety by later generations. Because of his bad behavior in his youth, he almost degenerated. Fortunately, he was corrected by good knowledge, and later with this filial piety, it is enough to prove that good roots are deep in the valley. Valley once wrote a poem to stop killing:

I am flesh and blood, with a different name.

Same sex, but different bodies.

Suffering from him, being fat is what I need,

What do you think if you don't teach Yan Lao Duan?

From this poem, we know that the valley finally converted to Buddhism and became a vegetarian. Because of the high Zen style at that time, many people practiced Zen at that time, and many monks were close to the valley. They devoted themselves to studying and learning from Master Huanglong. In his later years, he built a fine house on the rich water bank in Shehong County, Sichuan Province, calling himself a "rich man" and living in a pure land. He is the author of Ancient Collections inside and outside the Mountain and Other Collections in the Valley. Valley's poetry and prose works spread to Japan and were highly respected, which had a great influence on Japanese Chinese literature.
