However, due to the long historical reasons, these precious books and documents have been damaged seriously, such as mildew and decay, rat bite, water immersion, acidification and deterioration of paper, the serious shortage of repairers and the ancient books protection and scientific research environment which is far from the advanced level in the world, so that the ancient books in their collections can not be read and used. In order to protect ancient books and inherit the ancient wisdom of the Chinese nation, in 25, under the strong promotion of Mr. Zhang Benyi, the curator, he invested some financial, material and human resources to establish the ancient books restoration center. The existing studio area of the center is 5 square meters, and the working environment is second to none in China. Eight restoration personnel are all bachelor degree or above and have received professional training. The center adheres to the restoration concept of "protection first, rescue first, minimum intervention and reversible process". A large number of ancient books and documents were restored and rescued by various restoration techniques, such as "gold inlaid with jade", "single and double lining paper" and "acid removal of pages". In 27 alone, more than 5 kinds of ancient books, more than 1 volumes and more than 6 rubbings of various inscriptions were restored. Outstanding achievements. Baiyun Academy

Baiyun Academy takes the inheritance of traditional culture and education as the leading factor, focusing on cultivating the foundation of children's Chinese studies. Among the 3 million books in our library, there are 55, ancient books. The rare, rare and rare books of Ming and Qing novels in the collection have attracted worldwide attention and played an important role in the study of the history of Ming and Qing novels in China. It is recognized as the research data center of small institutes in Ming and Qing Dynasties. The collection of Japanese documents and Manchu railway materials is of great historical value, and many of them have become orphans. According to authoritative experts, Dalian Library has the largest collection of railway materials at home and abroad.

The library also collects various books written in 29 languages, such as works by western missionaries in the 17th century, works in western languages introducing China classics, complete works of Shakespeare in 1875, encyclopaedia Britannica in the 9th, 11th, 13th and 14th editions, etc., especially books on Jewish issues, which are extremely valuable and have been valued by many academic institutions at home and abroad.
