Although there is no written record of quilts in ancient China, there must be something to keep out the cold. It was not called a quilt at that time, but it had the same function as a quilt. People at that time called it "bed clothes", "bed clothes" or "bed clothes".
1982, a pair of cotton trousers was unearthed from No.1 Chu Tomb in Mashan, Jingzhou, Hubei Province. The trouser legs are embroidered with patterns, yellow lining and filled with silk wool. In the Zhou Dynasty, the "cotton robe" appeared. Because of its good cold resistance, it became the "winter standard" for soldiers at that time, which is what people call "military coats" today.
During the Xia and Shang Dynasties, the land was vast, the population was sparse, and there were many hunters, so most of them used animal skins to keep out the cold. Later, during the farming period, it was thought that stuffing catkins, reeds, straw and other fillers in the quilt could also be used to keep warm. Rich people will fill quilts with silk, duck down, cashmere and other things. So we now think that the most valuable eiderdown quilt actually existed when there were no quilts in ancient times.
In a word, there are many ways to keep out the cold in ancient times. Our ancestors were hardworking, brave and full of wisdom. It is precisely because of this that our nation will continue and create so many splendid and immortal civilizations.
