On the Vernacular Interpretation of Treatise on Febrile Diseases

Treatise on Febrile Diseases is a classic work of traditional Chinese medicine written by Zhang Zhongjing, a famous doctor in the late Eastern Han Dynasty. Treatise on Febrile Diseases was originally a combined edition of Treatise on Febrile Diseases and Treatise on Miscellaneous Diseases, but it was incomplete soon after it came out. Later, Wang Shuhe, a doctor in Jin Dynasty, collected and adopted Zhongjing's old theory and edited it again, and named it Treatise on Febrile Diseases. However, Treatise on Febrile Diseases compiled by Wang Shuhe is not widely circulated, which can be described as "hidden from time to time" with different versions. Until the Song Dynasty, the state set up a medical book correction bureau, which was corrected by Lin Bu and others and published by the state. Since then, Treatise on Febrile Diseases has been finalized, which is called "Treatise on Febrile Diseases in Song Dynasty" in history.

Treatise on Febrile Diseases is one of the classic works that lay the foundation of TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment, a classic that combines TCM theory with practice, and the foundation of TCM clinical medicine. Its dialectical thinking method, theoretical system and specific dialectical treatment method are of guiding significance to clinical disciplines, so it has been effectively guiding the clinical and academic development of traditional Chinese medicine and is regarded as the standard of traditional Chinese medicine; The prescriptions contained in it are strict in compatibility and moderate in addition and subtraction, which are imitated by later generations, so they are called "classic prescriptions", while Treatise on Febrile Diseases is called "the ancestor of prescription science". Mr. Liu Duzhou called Treatise on Febrile Diseases "the soul of Chinese medicine", which is a must-read book for learning Chinese medicine.

Because of the abstruse words in Treatise on Febrile Diseases, it is difficult to read, and there is often a feeling of "thinking about its purpose, not knowing its purpose" and "the reader is difficult to understand". In order to adapt to the current excellent situation of studying the classics of traditional Chinese medicine and facilitate the study, research and application of the dialectical thinking method, theory of syndrome differentiation and treatment and prescriptions of Treatise on Febrile Diseases, we organized and compiled the vernacular interpretation of Treatise on Febrile Diseases.
