Behind the scenes
In order to pursue the authenticity of the scene, Zheng Xiaolong’s team consulted thousands of ancient Chinese medicine books and original records of traditional Chinese medicine, spanning thousands of kilometers, traveling to Beijing and Lingshui County, Hainan Province , Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province and other places, they rebuilt the scene over and over again and renovated dilapidated buildings, trying to panoramicly restore Tu Youyou's working scene at a 1:1 ratio.
The "Yuan Longping" unit needed to present rice at different growth stages in a short period of time, and the time to find suitable rice for filming needed to be quickly transplanted to the filming location; with more than 280 scenes in one episode, But it was a huge workload to restore 210 scenes.
