Book cover, celebrity book cover

Throughout the ages, celebrities and scholars who like to collect books like to seal their books with cymbals. Besides their names, they often leave other words on the seals to reflect the character and temperament of bibliophiles and make readers feel interesting and charming. The earliest book seal can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty. It is said that Lian Zhuyin and Li Shimin personally wrote the word "Zhenguan". Since then, the word "Kaiyuan" written by Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, Lian Zhuyin's "Duanju" and Li Yu's "Jianye Learning Room" are also quite famous.

After the Ming Dynasty, the custom of using book seal gradually spread, and private books paid special attention to the application of book seal. Huang Zongxi, a writer in the Ming Dynasty, has a book collection with the words "Never forget to buy when you are poor, never forget to recite when you are chaotic, never forget to read when you are old, and your children and grandchildren can learn from your heart". My love for books is all in it. Jin Mao, the owner of "Chicken Bone Pavilion" in Ming Dynasty, has a famous collection of books. He has a 56-word book collection printed with the words, "Zhao is a scholar at the end of the book, and my family is a Confucian. I try to buy books to bequeath my descendants. If I don't sell them, I will be worse than an animal." If they go back to his home, they should read them and have no shame. It can be described as spectacular.

Zheng Banqiao, one of the "Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou" in Qing Dynasty, has a charming personal seal. The common bells are printed with the words "seven official ears" and "move with the name." At first glance, the seal is blunt, but after careful study, it is valuable. Ma Tailong, the master of book collection, carved a book seal himself, which printed "Indian slave". Because of his large collection of books, his books are often stolen. In a rage, he carved a "warning seal" on the title page of the book: "Stealing books is not an elegant thief."

Many modern writers and artists have unique stamp collections. Qu Qiubai and Yang Zhihua often put a seal on the title page of a book. The seals are "white flowers in autumn", including their names, which are ingenious and profound. Mao Dun's Notes on Zhuangzi is stamped with his book collection "Zhu Xuan studied after he was sixty-eight", which is quite meaningful. Zheng Zhenduo often only signs his name on the cover of the dress book, and only adds the seal of Changle Zheng Ji to the thread-bound book. Wei carved two seals for him. The long one says "Changle Zheng Collection", while the square one says "Changle Zheng Zhenduo Xidi Collection". It's all written by Zhu Wen. Every word of the previous one has a box, pure and lovely. Zhang Daqian, a master of Chinese painting, wrote most of his seal cutting. What is even more intriguing is Mastering the Great Thousand Stories, The Great Thousand Hidden Stories, The East and the West Only Stay Together, and so on. The love of books can't be expressed in words.

Mr. Lu Xun collected many rubbings of stone carvings, ancient books and other books. The seals of his books are "Zhou Shuren Collection", "Zhou Huiji Collection" and "Tang Ji". Mr. Lu Xun once met Chen Shiceng, a famous painter and epitaph in China. Chen Shiceng carved five seals for Lu Xun, such as "Hidden by Zhou Shuren" and "Zengtang". Mr. Deng Tuo's book collection has a unique style. He once carved a seal of "indispensable morale", which vividly expressed his upright and diligent scholar style. Dong Aishu, all his books are printed with an oval "Happy Together", which is the plaque of his living room.

Mao Zedong loved reading all his life. After liberation, his personal library reached tens of thousands of volumes. He once had a collection stamp, which was the "Shi Mao Collection" seal engraved by Chen Shutong 1963, a seal engraver of Shanghai Museum. When Wu Putang carved this seal, he properly handled the contradiction between the density and layout of the four-character strokes of "Shi Mao" and "Collection of Books". This seal is deeply loved by Mao Zedong, and all his books have this collection seal.
