The Nanjing University History Museum and the Digital School History Museum have been under construction since May 1999. The school leaders, teachers and students of the school, alumni at home and abroad, the Business Department of the Jiangsu Branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, and China Foreign Construction With the strong support of the head office, Beihai Galaxy High-tech Co., Ltd. and other units, the museum was finally opened on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Nanjing University. In the past three years, comrades from the school archives and relevant units have traveled to various parts of the country and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to collect nearly 5,000 historical materials, objects and photos from alumni at home and abroad. We also went to CCTV, Jiangsu TV and the on-campus Education Technology Center to transcribe more than 200 videos of major events and performance introductions of well-known alumni, which greatly enriched the archives collection. The University History Museum is built in the old library of Nanjing University (formerly Jinling University Library), with a usable area of ??1,400 square meters and an exhibition area of ??about 1,000 square meters. Gu Yu_, the former president of Central University and a centenarian, inscribed the name of the school history museum. The First Exhibition Hall - Centennial School History and Glorious Revolutionary Tradition
The first exhibition area on the east side of the second floor is divided into: "Presidents", "Three Rivers and Two Rivers", "South High School and East University" ", "Central University", "Jinling University", "Nanjing University" and other columns use a display cabinet more than 50 meters long and 7 independent display cabinets to display more than 400 photos from different periods and more than 200 historical materials and objects. These include the diploma from Liangjiang Normal School in the second year of Xuantong, the instruments used by the "Queen of Physics" Wu Jianxiong when he studied at the school in the 1930s, and the bronze bell from Jinling University. Two color TVs were used to play the videos of Nanjing University's "60th Anniversary", "80th Anniversary" and "90th Anniversary" as well as the foreign language version of "Nanjing University Introduction" produced in 1985.
On the octagonal pavilion in the middle of the exhibition hall, four computers are used to play the "Digital School History Museum Multimedia System" that integrates commentary dubbing, photos, text, music and some videos. Through these display methods, the century-old development history of Nanjing University and the school-running philosophy, fine traditions, school spirit construction and important achievements achieved in different periods are revealed in a more vivid and detailed manner.
The second exhibition hall of the Nanjing University History Museum - NTU Today
The second exhibition area on the west side of the second floor is divided into: "Leadership Care", "Team Building" and "Discipline Construction" , "talent training", "scientific research", "condition construction", "international exchanges", "spiritual civilization construction", "alumni complex" and "study donation" and other columns are displayed in a more than 60-meter-long exhibition cabinet. There are more than 700 photos and more than 300 certificates, prizes, award-winning works and objects of important achievements in teaching and scientific research achieved since 1978. In the six independent display cabinets in the middle, international awards, national teaching and scientific research awards won by our school teachers over the years are displayed, as well as certificates for the number of SCI papers ranking first among universities in the country for seven consecutive years, etc. These include the Victoria Medal awarded by the Royal Geographical Society awarded by Academician Ren Mei'e, and the German Federal *** and the National University Cross awarded by Professor Zhang William. Here you will also see multiple revisions of the article "Practice is the Only Criterion for Testing Truth" drafted by our school's teacher Hu Fuming and published in Guangming Daily, which triggered a nationwide discussion on the standard of truth. The third exhibition hall of the Nanjing University History Museum - Centennial Talents
The Centennial Talents Hall is divided into: "Scientific Giants", "Pioneers among Alumni", "Academicians of the Two Academies", Columns such as "Famous Humanities Scholars", "Famous Alumni from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Overseas", "Alumni in Leaders at the Ministry and Provincial Level or Above", "Recreating Glory", etc. The performance materials of more than 300 well-known alumni and more than 200 objects and models are displayed in a more than 40-meter-long display cabinet and 4 independent display cabinets. The two TV sets respectively played the videos of "Two Bombs and One Star Meritorious Service Award Ceremony", "Song of the Strong Five" and "Li Guoding" and "Chen Baichen".
Two computer touch screens are used for visitors to interactively click and watch the performance introductions of more than 300 well-known alumni and the videos of more than 20 alumni.
Through the various display methods mentioned above, the century-old development history of NTU and the crystallization of the hard work of generations of NTU people and students have been condensed and deposited here. In order to enable visitors to understand the Nanjing University History Museum in more detail, comrades from the archives also produced the "Digital University History Museum Multimedia CD", which uses multimedia software to create a dynamic gallery of all exhibition contents and important videos in the University History Museum. , and equipped with a large amount of text, commentary, background music, photos that can be clicked to enlarge, etc., which more vividly condenses the century-old development history of Nanjing University, major events and photos of famous alumni on this CD. It is a miniature version of the century-old history of Nanjing University and a precious souvenir of Nanjing University.
