The pronoun "Kyushu" comes from the ancient book Gong Yu. It is said that when Dayu was in charge of water conservancy in ancient times, the world was divided into Kyushu, and Kyushu became synonymous with ancient China. The records of the Three Emperors and Five Emperors are different in each period and in different ancient books, so is Kyushu, and the scope division in different periods is also different. Kyushu in Dayu period was Yuzhou, Qingzhou, Xuzhou, Yangzhou, Jingzhou, Liangzhou, Yongzhou, Jizhou and Yanzhou. "Two ya? It is recorded in Shuowen Jiezi that Jizhou, Yuzhou, Shuozhou, Jingzhou, Yangzhou, Yanzhou, Xuzhou, Youzhou and Yingzhou are Kyushu, which is not only different in Kyushu, but also different in different periods.
Kyushu was later called twelve states because Bingzhou, Youzhou and Yingzhou, which were separated from Jizhou, became twelve states together with the original Kyushu. At first, Kyushu was just a general statement, because the country is a very small geographical scope, and the vast land is divided into Kyushu, which is not exactly what it refers to, but gradually divided into specific parts. Kyushu is divided into nine administrative regions, which may have appeared in the Warring States period according to records.
There are mainly three divisions, and their regions are different. One division is Yuzhou, belonging to the Central Plains, in the lower reaches of the Yellow River, Henan, Shandong and other places. Xuzhou, starting from the Yellow Sea, Mount Tai and Huaihe River, also involves Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui and other places. Jizhou originated in Hukou of the Yellow River, Yanzhou in the lower reaches of the Yellow River, Qingzhou in the Bohai Sea, involving Hebei and Shandong peninsulas, Yangzhou in the Huaihe River, Jingzhou in Jingshan, Liangzhou in Huashan and Yongzhou in Heishui and Xihe.
The second division is Jizhou and Yuzhou, which belong to most of Henan Province, as well as Luxi and northern Anhui. Qingzhou refers to eastern Shandong, Xuzhou refers to southeastern Shandong and northern Jiangsu Province, and Yongzhou refers to southeastern Hebei, northwestern Shandong and northeastern Henan. Yongzhou is in the north of Shaanxi, Hexi of Gansu, southeast of Qinghai and Ningxia. Jingzhou is two provinces, Henan and Guizhou, Yangzhou is Huaibei, and Liangzhou is now south-central Shanxi and Sichuan Province.
The third division is Yuzhou, the primary position of Kyushu, starting from Henan. Qingzhou is the representative of the East, Mount Tai in Dongyue is the head of the five mountains, Qingzhou is the south of Shandong Peninsula and Yellow River, Xuzhou is the south of Mount Tai and the north of Huaihe River, Yangzhou is the south of Huaihe River, Jingzhou refers to Hubei and the middle reaches of Yangtze River, Liangzhou refers to the south of Shaanxi and Qinling Mountains and Sichuan Basin, Yongzhou is Gansu and Qinghai, Ningxia and northwest Inner Mongolia, Jizhou is between Hebei and Shaanxi and Liaohe River, and Yanzhou and the Yellow River and Jishui.
