Wenzhou Library is located in Lucheng District, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is a large modern public library integrating culture, education, scientific research, leisure and other functions. It is a civilized unit of Zhejiang Province and a Zhejiang Provincial Civilized Library. A social science popularization demonstration base, it was rated as a national first-level library in May 2018. ?
The predecessor of the Wenzhou Municipal Library was the Xuyuan Library built in May 1919. It was renamed Wenzhou Municipal Library in June 1950, and then renamed Wenzhou Municipal Library in 1955. The new building was officially opened to the public in March.
As of December 2016, Wenzhou Library has a construction area of ??36,000 square meters, 2,000 reading seats, 10 institutional departments, and 67 employees. The total collection of the library reaches 3.924 million volumes, including 188,000 volumes of ancient books and documents, 247,000 volumes of audio-visual materials, and 1.34 million volumes of electronic books.
