Ai retrieved China's ancient books when she left home.

"I won four children!"

The stewardess repeatedly urged Xin Li, who was sitting in the plane about to take off, to turn off her cell phone. At the last moment, the news from the Sichuan police phone made him excited! There was cheers and even sobs on the phone. Xin Li's eyes were wet with excitement. He knows how difficult it is.

According to the delineation of cross-age face recognition technology in Tencent Youtu Lab, the police conducted a further DNA paternity and found four children who had been lost for about 10 years. This is the first time in China and it is indeed a great breakthrough.

"I am ecstatic, even a little unbelievable." As a security expert of Tencent Guardian Program, Xin Li has 8 years of police experience. This is not the first time he has been involved in a kidnapping case. However, this experience of using artificial intelligence (AI) to find relatives is extraordinary.

No matter how far you go, you can't get rid of my concern.

When Xin Li's colleague took the photo of the child from the parents who were looking for relatives, everyone was silent. The photo was wrapped in thick oil paper for fear of being defiled. Children are basically under 3 years old, some children only have the only photo in their lives, and some even just have a full moon photo.

Jiang Xiaoling, director of the Anti-trafficking Division of the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Sichuan Provincial Public Security Department, recalled that many parents repeatedly told them not to lose the photos when they got them. "For parents, this is the only sustenance left by children."

The children in these photos are all related to a number of cases accumulated by the abduction department of the Sichuan Provincial Public Security Bureau. From 2008 to 20 10, there were 10 three-year-old children abducted in Sichuan, and "little mouse" was one of them.

The parents of "Little Mouse" are Gui from Hubei and his wife. In order to make a living, they opened a restaurant in a lively market in Yankou Town, Wusheng County, Sichuan Province. Whenever I think back to that nightmare afternoon, Gui Zheng Hong is still saddened.

"That was at 5: 20 pm on June 12, 2009. My wife and I found the "little mouse" missing. We looked everywhere, but we still couldn't find it. The more we look at it in the street, the more desperate we are, shouting,' Little Mouse', where are you? Where are you? ..... "Gui Zheng Hong recalled that scene, and it is still difficult to calm down.

"The little mouse was born in July 2006. It is very smart and sensible. Get up early every day to brew hundreds of kilograms of sorghum, squeeze it out and spread it on the ground. My two-year-old' little mouse' will use a broom to help me sweep, and said that when I grow up, I will help my father make wine ... "After the child was abducted, the scene of getting along with the child day and night kept emerging in front of Gui.

The child was lost, and it was light and dark for two days. The couple still run a small hotel. When you earn money, you will rush around the country for meetings to find relatives, or you will come over to check and understand when you hear a clue. After spending all their savings, they went home to make money and went on their way.

20 14 Sichuan police arrested a child trafficker. Combined with a large number of previous investigations and evidence collection, it was determined that 10 abducted children, including "little mice", were trafficked to Guangdong. However, through the comparison of the national abduction DNA database, there is no result. Looking for a long-lost child based on a childhood photo is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

On May 20 18, Gui Hong will come to Zhengzhou, Henan Province to attend a meeting to find relatives. He knew in his heart that his old father with lung cancer would not live long. At the scene of searching for relatives at Zhengzhou West Railway Station, he hung the sign of searching for relatives around his neck and choked in the face of the media who came to interview: "Little mouse, where are you?" ..... Your grandfather's time is running out, and he wants to see you one last time ... "Little mouse" ... "Just after that, he received a phone call from his hometown: his old father died.

When Gui Hong hurried back to his hometown, he saw his father's eyes open, as if waiting for him to come back, and his mouth open, as if calling his grandson's name. ...

"/kloc-in the past 0/0 years, the bosses around us have changed several times, and we have the opportunity to do business in other places, but we have never changed places, and the restaurant has always maintained its original appearance, and it has not changed at all." Gui Zheng Hong said. "No matter how far the' little mouse' goes, it can't get out of our hearts. We have been waiting for "Little Mouse" to come back. We think he has a memory of this place. Maybe one day, he will suddenly think of this place, and then find it himself ... "

Every abducted child is my heart disease.

Jiang Xiaoling has engaged in kidnapping for 19 years. In this process, she experienced too much information loss and the second time.

She said that some parents can't find their children for years, and they will say, "We don't expect our children to come back to us. We just want to know where they are, look at them and see if they are doing well ... "

10 For the past 0 years, the abduction office of the Sichuan Provincial Public Security Department and the public security organs in the counties and cities where the case occurred have been actively looking for the whereabouts of the abducted children. "We have tried all the methods we can think of, such as investigation and interview, simulated portrait and online announcement, but it's really too difficult after such a long time, and there is no trafficking middleman to provide clues." Jiang Xiaoling said.

The turning point occurred at 20 17 12. Chen Shiqu, deputy director of the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, learned about the cross-age face recognition technology of Youtu Laboratory when he went to Tencent for investigation, so he introduced this technology to the Sichuan police.

Previously, Tencent and other companies have had many successful experiences in using artificial intelligence to help find relatives. For example, by the end of 20 18, 10, QQ connected with UTU technology has helped to retrieve more than 600 people. Up to now, more than 1 0,000 people have used this technology to retrieve it from the "Pay attention to you" anti-lost platform of Fujian Provincial Public Security Department.

"It's hard." Xin Li said. "In fact, everyone didn't have any ideas at that time, but when everyone saw the photos of those packages, they made up their minds to try."

The "little mouse" was only 3 years old when it was abducted, and it ended at 20 1 1 year old. This period of time is the most dramatic stage of facial changes in people's life. At that time, there was no precedent in the world to successfully find missing children through face recognition technology in 10.

For cross-age face recognition, Dr. Li and his colleagues, who are in charge of the research of Youtu face recognition algorithm, simulate the growth and changes of 0-18-year-old faces, generate a large number of face samples for learning, and then use deep neural network algorithm to learn the complex changes of these faces in the growth process.

"The difficulty is that there was no mature algorithm model for cross-age face recognition at that time, and the data samples were limited. At first, the experimental effect was not very satisfactory. " Dr. Li said.

Dr. Li and his colleagues came up with the method of "teaching machines with machines". After thousands of model trainings, a deep neural network model for cross-age face recognition is finally trained.

"To put it simply, just like I take the adult face recognition model as a teacher, let the children face recognition model learn' skills' and try to eliminate the negative impact of age change on recognition accuracy." Dr. Li said.

Many things happen. After nearly half a year's efforts and many nights of burning the midnight oil, we finally made a breakthrough. The accuracy of the distributed extraction learning rule algorithm model for cross-age face recognition is over 96%.

There is new hope to find the "little mouse".

Good technology makes AI more temperature.

Soon, the Youtu team used their model to compare the massive data provided by the police for the first time. The police delineated the top five results that were most similar to each abducted child and made the final offline confirmation.

Then came the scene at the beginning of the article. Through DNA testing, the police successfully identified the first batch of four abducted children, of whom three scored the highest.

The result is beyond the expectation of Xin Li, colleagues and police. "We didn't expect so much at first, so it would be good to find one." Xin Li said.

What impressed Jiang Xiaoling most was that among the first children found, there was a photo of a child who was only a few months old. She can't help but sigh: "The power of technology is too powerful!"

Then using this technology, we found three children, including "Little Mouse". On April 20 19, the police informed Mr. and Mrs. Gui that the "little mouse" lost for nearly 10 years had been found. The two men wept with joy, and the long journey of finding children in 10 finally ended. Later, they went to Guangdong and met their haunted son "Little Mouse", who also cried bitterly. After many years, their affection and love continued.

Up to now, of the 10 children who were trafficked in Sichuan that year, 7 have been recovered. Chen Shiqu said that most abducted children were successfully recovered, which fully proved that artificial intelligence can play an important role in finding abducted children for many years. Cross-age face recognition technology provides an effective way for public security organs to find abducted children besides DNA comparison, which is of "milestone significance"

At present, there are only dozens of cases of abducting and selling children by criminals by means of theft, robbery and abduction. Basically, the existing cases have been quickly investigated and solved. In response to the accumulated cases of child trafficking, the public security organs throughout the country have constantly overcome difficulties and improved the national DNA database of child trafficking and the matching mechanism for children of unknown origin. Up to now, * * * has recovered 6 108 children who have been trafficked for many years, which has been well received.

It is understood that it is precisely because of the success of the abduction and tracing case in Sichuan that some provinces and cities across the country have also found the Tencent Guardian project team and are cooperating one after another. The public security department is also considering the nationwide application and promotion of UTU's cross-age face recognition technology.

According to Dr. Li, their team is still constantly optimizing the cross-age face recognition model. At present, the accuracy rate has reached more than 99.80%, which will challenge a larger age span. Now there is a new breakthrough, and the children who have been separated for a long time have been found.

In Xin Li's view, artificial intelligence is no different from other technologies. The key is how to use them and how to make them warmer. "'technology is good' should be the obligation and responsibility of technology users."

Jiang Xiaoling, who participated in this AI cross-age family search from beginning to end, said: "The power of technology is amazing! I have a wish that one day I can' turn around in the world'. "
