Gu sui's personal life

Zhou, the master of redology, is a disciple and is called "the most proud student". They have been exchanging letters for the past 20 years. In 20 10, Hebei Education Publishing House compiled and published more than 100 letters saved in that week as "Gu Sui Chang Ru Shu", and the editor called their friendship "academic confidant".

Gu Sui taught in yenching university in his early days. During this period, I became a teacher-student relationship with Zhou. In a letter to others in 1952, Zhou was commented as follows: "People who have (jade is Zhou's word) (Tianjin people) graduated from the Foreign Languages Department of the University (the graduation thesis was translated into English), and they are also very rooted in Chinese, and their poems are good. He is my most proud student. "

194 1 year, the pearl harbor incident broke out suddenly and yenching university was closed by the Japanese aggressors. Zhou returned to his hometown of Tianjin, during which he wrote many poems. Regarding the origin of the communication between teachers and students for twenty years, Zhou, the daughter of Zhou, wrote in an article: "One day, he (Zhou) had a whim and boldly wrote a letter to his husband, with his own poem attached, hoping to see the teacher's new work. Unexpectedly, I never gave up. At the beginning of the following year, I received a reply from my teacher (1942). Since then, the two teachers and students have been singing together for 20 years. This friendship beyond teachers and students continued until the teacher died. " Over the years, I have kept these letters and handed them over to my daughter Gu Zhijing for sorting. This book is a letter to Zhou. According to Liu Xiangmei, the editor in charge of this book, the communication between these two people has hardly been interrupted in the past 20 years. There are more than 100 letters in the book, including some short stories of parents and academic exchanges between them. "Mr. Gu will let Mr. Zhou evaluate his own words in the letter, and Mr. Zhou will also let Mr. Gu comment on his own words. The two exchanged as academic confidants. " Liu Xiangmei said that the language used in the letter is very cordial, and sometimes Mr. Gu will call Mr. Zhou "Brother Yuyan", which shows the equal relationship between them. Liu Xiangmei said that the letters in the book are arranged in chronological order. Later, some letters involved their discussion of A Dream of Red Mansions. It is believed that this part of the discussion has certain enlightening significance for the study of A Dream of Red Mansions after Zhou Dynasty. Gu Sui, a scholar of Beijing School, and people in Zhou Zuoren's circle are familiar with it, but he does not regard right and wrong in the eyes of authority as right and wrong, but has a maverick side. He graduated from Peking University in his early years and was also a disciple of Kuyuzhai. Zhou's students have great respect for Yu Pingbo, Shen and other teachers, and even have a feeling of admiration for Zhou Zuoren. On the other hand, Gu Sui looks at it with his usual eyes and is quite clear about the shortcomings of the owner of Kuyu Zhai. Although he was somewhat influenced by Zhou Zuoren in his studies, in that circle, Gu should be said to be a member of the "Lu Xun Party", although he had no contact with Lu Xun.

He has been engaged in teaching all his life, but he has a special passion for creation. He has always been concerned about the literary world, and he has also written novels and essays, especially ancient poems. Mr. Feng Zhi said that he was "versatile, writing poems, writing lyrics and composing music, all of which created a new realm; The style of novels and letters is also unique; Excellent achievements in teaching, scientific research and calligraphy; It's just that he talked about Zen for a while, so I didn't have a chance to say anything. But in addition, he occasionally writes humorous words and makes fun of it, which is both ironic and self-deprecating. "

Gu Sui probably met Zhou Zuoren when he was studying at Peking University. However, at that time, his impression of Zhou was far less than that of Lu Xun. Throughout his letters, diaries and academic articles, Lu Xun was mentioned more than Zhou. I am the owner of Kuyu Zhai, and I have a slight complaint. My opinion is very strange. In the late 1920s, when he stepped into Zhou Zuoren's circle, his feelings for you were very measured, unlike Fei Ming and Yu Pingbo. In his letters, he wrote many times about his feelings about money and Zhou Zuoren, which became valuable information. Gu Sui's aesthetic taste and scholarship are slightly the same as Zhou Zuoren's circle. For example, they all hate stereotyped writing, for the sake of writing and being honest, which is one of them; Reading is fine and miscellaneous, and I like philosophy of life. I think his articles on Zen are beyond Fei Ming and Yu Pingbo, with great wisdom and profound understanding. Secondly; When he talks about art papers, he has some coincidences with Zhou Zuoren's thoughts, such as advocating that "poets must have spiritual leisure" and so on, and he is not burdened by utilitarianism. However, Gu is basically a poet. He doesn't approve of learning for learning's sake or narcissistic life for learning's sake. Although he is in Beiping, Lu Xun, who is fascinated by Shanghai, believes that Lu Fuzi's world is an intellectual's proper feeling. Since the 1920s, he has been interested in collecting Lu Xun's works. He likes them both in creation and translation, and sometimes he even admires them and regards them as masters. When talking about the Zhou brothers, Gu Sui praised Zhou Zuoren's reading and Lu Xun's spiritual realm, thinking that the latter's transcendence was beyond our reach.

Before his death, Zhou Zuoren's contacts with his friends remained in the etiquette of ordinary friends, unlike Fei Ming and Jiang's enthusiasm. But when he reads Lu Xun's works, it is another state. 1942, when I read Lu Xun's translation of Yi Cong Bu, I was deeply moved. I said this feeling: "after I took it with me, I read it under the lamp every night, and I feel that the master's mental outlook is still as bright as it is now." The seal on the back cover is beautiful and brightly colored, just like what I saw when I read his book more than ten years ago. However, the owner's grave has been covered with grass. Since ancient times, everyone has died. Although the master worked so hard and died, he may not (and will never) be satisfied, but can we ask him for more? Thinking about this and looking around, I really have unspeakable sadness and shame. " When Ye Jiaying was studying in the Chinese Department of Fu Jen Catholic University, her poetry creation was the most abundant period, not only because she was concerned about the country and the people, but also because she was "poor in poetry". What's important is that she met Mr. Gu, a famous classical literature teacher, when she was a sophomore, and she was deeply appreciated by Mr. Gu. At that time, Teacher Gu not only carefully corrected her poems, but also sang with teachers and students from time to time. For example, Shake Down and Five Poems in Late Autumn are the representative works of that period. "Who can see the flowers bloom, and poetry becomes a self-funded word." "I shouldn't have cleaned up my troubles and sat on the tuning post until midnight." "The blood in the tomb is a thousand years, and the ash in the furnace is red all night."

During her study, she carefully wrote down several big notebooks. After decades of tossing and turning, she never left, and she often reread and re-described the increasingly blurred handwriting in the notebooks. Years later, according to these notes, a book was compiled, leaving a generation of famous teachers' precious materials about poetry, and even the charm of Mr. Gu's lectures was retained between the lines.

Mr. Wang once wrote in a letter to her: "If bitter water (Mr. Gu's nickname) has laws to spread, by today, all laws have been exhausted." Not only did she get a true biography of Mr. Gu, but she was also very creative. As a teacher, she was academically by going up one flight of stairs.

Some words of Mr. Gu Sui also gave her great spiritual encouragement and comfort. "Fighting for tears and changing hearts." From Mr. Gu's poems, she gained a strong spirit of responsibility, a spirit of perseverance in facing difficulties and not seeking escape; At the same time, you should also get an emotional comfort.

She always remembers the words of her teacher, Mr. Gu: "A person should take inanimate consciousness as his lifelong career;" Live an optimistic life with a pessimistic attitude. "

Ye Jiaying graduated from university in 1945 and taught in a middle school in Beiping. He was introduced to Mr. Zhao, who works in the Kuomintang navy. "My life is not my choice. My husband's sister is my teacher, and my teacher chose me. "
