The reign title is a title used to commemorate the feudal emperors in ancient China. There is no regulation on how many reign names an emperor can have. Generally, emperors will change their reign names when they encounter major events.
Li Longji had three reign titles, namely Xiantian, Kaiyuan and Tianbao. When Li Dan passed the throne to Li Longji, he changed the reign name to Xiantian. For more than a year from 712 to 713, Li Longji used the innate reign name. During this year, there was also an incident where Princess Taiping attempted a coup. However, before Princess Taiping had time to implement it, Li Longji took advantage of her. This coup was also named the Xiantian coup because of the Xiantian's reign.
One month after the threat from Princess Taiping was relieved, Li Longji changed the reign name from Xiantian to Kaiyuan. It is said that this was Li Longji's attempt to express his determination to create another glorious Tang Dynasty. From December 713 to 741, Li Longji took Kaiyuan as his reign for twenty-nine years. During this period, Li Longji created a prosperous Kaiyuan era, and as he wished, he recreated the prosperity of the Tang Dynasty.
In the first month of 742, Li Longji changed his reign name to Tianbao. It is said that there were three reasons why Li Longji changed his reign: first, an official reported an auspicious event; second, Li Longji felt that his achievements had been accomplished and he just wanted to enjoy the results; third, at the end of Kaiyuan, some unlucky things happened. matter. The time when Li Longji took Tianbao as his reign was fifteen years.
Therefore, Li Longji had three reign titles: Xiantian, Kaiyuan and Tianbao.
