Ou Yangxun, a famous calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty, studied calligraphy and washed pens in Shutangshan, north of Changsha. Ou Yangxun, a calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty, was born in Hengzhou, now Hengyang, Hunan. In the past, there was no running water, and people liked to tell stories about washing pens after practicing calligraphy and blackening the pool, which led a considerable number of people to practice calligraphy and wash pens one after another. The south slope of Shutang Mountain in the north of Changsha is where Ou Yangxun washes his pens.

Shutang Mountain, located 50 miles north of Changsha City, Hunan Province, is now Shutang Village, Tongguan Street, Wangcheng District. Shutang Temple is built on the hill. Ou Yangxun, a great calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty, and his son Ouyang Tong studied here. The bookstore was the former site of Ouyang's bookstore.
