The Bodhi version does not have a tree or a mirror, nor is it a work of Taiwanese official script.

The Bodhi original has neither a tree nor a mirror nor a Taiwanese official script. The works are as follows:

Bodhi verse:

The author Huineng was in the Tang Dynasty.

Bodhi has no tree, and the mirror is not a stand.

Buddha nature is always pure, where is the dust!

The body is like a bodhi tree, and the mind is like a mirror.

The bright mirror is originally pure, but it is stained with dust!

Bodhi has no tree, and the mirror is not a stand.

There is nothing in the first place, so where is the dust!

Bodhi can only be found in the heart, so why bother seeking mysteries from outside?

I heard that by practicing this, the West is only now!

Translation: There was no Bodhi tree in the first place, nor was it a bright mirror stand. As long as the nature is empty, there will be no dust! The body of all living beings is like a tree of enlightened wisdom, and the mind of all living beings is like a bright mirror. A bright mirror is inherently clean, so it won't be contaminated with dust!

There was no Bodhi tree in the first place, nor was it a bright mirror stand. Originally, the four elements were all empty, no matter where they were, they were stained with dust! Bodhi is only looking within, why bother to seek mysteries from the outside world? If you practice yourself in this way, the paradise world will be right in front of you!

Appreciation

The first verse is found in the Dunhuang manuscript "Tan Jing". Regarding the origin of this song, there is a clear record in the fourth to eighth verses of the "Tan Sutra": the fifth ancestor Hongren "called all his disciples one day" and asked everyone to "compose a verse." He also said, "If you realize the general idea," that is, "I will give you the Dharma and give it to the Sixth Generation."

Hongren's first disciple Shenxiu wrote a verse in front of the door: "The body is like a bodhi tree, and the heart is like a mirror stand. I always wipe it diligently to make sure there is no dust." After Hongren knew about it, "then he called "The Master Shenxiu is sitting in the hall" and said, "You have composed this verse, but you have not yet arrived" and "If you are looking for the supreme Bodhi, you will not be able to obtain it", so I asked him to "compose another verse".
