Son of Xie Xie: My understanding of Yu Youren.

Yu Youren (left), Zhang Daqian and Xie Yu 1942 wrote the Lotus Pond and presented it to Yu Youren's eldest son, Mr. and Mrs. Yu Wangde. It's simple and interesting. People all know that Yu Youren is a modern politician and educator, but in my mind, he is a noble, generous and kind elder, a great calligrapher and a cursive saint. 1autumn of 9401summer and autumn of 946, my father Xie served as the president of the National Supervision Institute-secretary of Yu Youren. Cheng Cangbo is the Secretary General of the People's Procuratorate. He is my uncle Xie Yucen's brother-in-law and my father's senior. At that time, my uncle, father and Cheng Cangbo were studying in the garden of Qian Zhenqian, a scholar in the south of the Yangtze River and the top scholar in the previous dynasty. Later, Qian married his two daughters to my uncles Xie Yucen and Cheng Cangbo respectively. Father's work in the supervision office was recommended by Cheng Cangbo. 1940, father 3 1 year old, Yu Youren 62 years old. According to seniority, Yu Youren is my grandfather, and Yu Youren's son, Mr. Yu Zhong Ling, is my uncle. When I was a child, I heard from my father that they all called me "Yu Youlao", "You Lao" or "Bearded Man". At that time, there were many cultural celebrities, even scholars, great painters and seal engravers in the supervisory committee appointed by You Lao. Zhang (lawyer, scholar, calligrapher), Shen (poet, great calligrapher, good at drawing bamboo slips), Dong Wang (member of Nanshe Society, poet, painter), Ye (economist, educator, president of Chongqing University), Qiao Dazhuang (procurator, scholar, seal engraver) and (poet, painter) were often mentioned or seen by their parents when they were young. They are many years older than my father, who is a mistress. So it can also be said that they influenced my father, especially in poetry, calligraphy and painting, which had a great influence on my father. Two great calligraphers, Shen He, became my father's lifelong teachers and friends. Yu Youlao is very kind and values and supports my father's paintings. At that time, there was a secretary named Zhang in the procuratorate, who later served as the secretary-general of the procuratorate and followed you Lao for a long time. He is Zhang Daqian's righteous brother, and the close relationship between Zhang Daqian and Yu Youlao is linked by Zhang Hanmu. Mr Daqian drew many birthday pictures for you Lao and gave them to Zhang. Now I see hundreds of letters written by Zhang Daqian to Zhang. At the end of the letter, I often ask Han Mu to greet the bearded man. Because my father is in close contact with Zhang Daqian, Zhang and my father help Zhang Daqian to handle all the affairs in Chongqing. At this time, Zhang Daqian wrote to Zhang, often saying that he would ask Yang Liu to do something. In the letter to my father, I will say that I will ask for something, so Zhang Daqian and Zhang are very close to my father. A few years ago, I saw a letter written by Zhang Daqian to Zhang in Hong Kong in the early 1950s: The letter was concerned about my father's situation at that time, and I was worried. I wrote a poem for Zhang and copied it. He and Xie have known each other for twenty years because of their pursuit of art in troubled times. At the bottom of these two poems, Zhang Daqian wrote two notes: "Yangliu is proud of talent and is extremely favored by the public", which means that Xie has a high vision and is proud of talent, but the public (referring to the right old man) is extremely partial to Xie. This is from Zhang Daqian's mouth that Yu Youlao appreciates and gives preferential treatment to my father. One more thing, it also shows that you always take care of my father. 194 1 year, Zhang Daqian went to Dunhuang to learn to copy murals. Later, he felt short of hands. He wrote several letters inviting his father to help Dunhuang. Yu Youlao was very supportive of this matter and specially approved my father to ask for leave to go to Dunhuang. Because my father was a secretary at that time and went to Dunhuang for a long time, his work was bound to be affected. My father can't go to Dunhuang without the consent of the dean. Later, my father stayed in Dunhuang for a year, made a detailed study of Dunhuang grottoes murals and published a monograph. Dunhuang frescoes, especially the figure paintings in the Tang Dynasty, have had a far-reaching influence on the painting art of Zhang Daqian and my father, which is inseparable from the support of You Lao. Yu Youlao not only supported my father to go to Dunhuang, but also wrote to the northwest military and political leaders before that, asking someone to take care of Zhang Daqian and his party's work in Dunhuang. According to my father, they traveled in Dunhuang, and the local * * * also sent soldiers to protect them, because local bandits often appeared. Once, they saw a huge vulture in the desert. A person is so tall that everyone is afraid. The soldier fired a shot into the air. The vulture eagle was about to fly away when it heard the gunshot, but because of its huge size, it had to run some distance on the flat ground to take off, just like the plane takes off now. Besides, they did encounter bandits in the middle of the night. According to my father, one night in the middle of the night, bandits came into the village and knocked at the door. The soldiers told everyone not to panic, not to make any noise, and not to light any lights. Later, the bandits thought there was no one in the yard and left. Thanks to the right old nursing home * * * send someone to protect. In addition, the Dunhuang Art Research Institute, the predecessor of Dunhuang Research Institute today, was also established at the suggestion of You Lao. Yu Youlao personally visited Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes from 194 1 to 10, leaving many poems. After returning to Chongqing, he immediately came forward and wrote a proposal to the state, suggesting the establishment of the Dunhuang Art Research Institute. 1944, Dunhuang Art Research Institute was formally established, with Chang Shuhong as the first president, which is the predecessor of Dunhuang Art Research Institute today. Therefore, from a certain point of view, the protection of Dunhuang cultural relics and artistic research since the Republic of China have a direct and important relationship with Yu Youlao. Yu Youlao's title of "Book Saint" is absolutely deserved. He devoted himself to the Revolution of 1911 in his early years, worrying about the country and the people. At the same time, his cursive script is also a model of calligraphy art. Throughout the ages, Yu Youlao is a flag figure in the history of China calligraphy, especially in the history of modern calligraphy. His cursive script is not only artistic in form, but also deeply loved by calligraphy lovers and collectors in content. In addition to human relationships and affairs, he wrote more about the war of resistance, inspirational, and worrying about the country and the people. For example, he wrote tens of thousands of articles about "for world peace". There is also a pair of couplets, which are widely circulated and become the motto of many people, and also reflect the right old man's mind that "the world is public." It is estimated that there are more than 50,000 calligraphy works in his life, which is unparalleled in contemporary times. It is said that when Shen was in the inspection office, he once teased the right old man: "The words written by the dean are not as valuable as mine, because the dean writes too much and I write too little." Lao Yu said with a smile, "Things are rare." One more thing, my father and Mr. Yu Wangde, the eldest son of Yu Youlao, are peers and colleagues of Chongqing Central University. They were all professors at Chongqing Central University. 1942, my father drew a huge lotus flower "Couple Pond Map" for the newly-married couple Yu Wangde, on which many red and white lotus flowers were painted, meaning "couple". The original painting I saw at Sotheby's auction in Hong Kong in the spring of 20 12, with a big flag, was more than 60 centimeters high and 2 meters wide, and was later bought by a collector in Changzhou. Yu Youlao has been concerned about the country and the people all his life and has been indifferent. It is said that after his death, there were no treasures in the safe, only diary letters and IOUs to raise money for studying abroad for his third son, as well as tens of thousands of yuan bills borrowed from the adjutant Song Zicai and cloth shoes and socks sewn for him by his wife in his early years. At that time, a newspaper once lamented that "thirty fame has two winds and a box of precious paper." 1964 65438+1October 12, Yu Youlao wrote in his diary: "After a hundred years, I would like to be buried in the wooded heights of Yushan or Alishan, and I can always look at the mainland. The highest mountain, the biggest tree. My hometown is Chinese mainland ... "654381October 24th, he wrote:" Bury me on a high mountain near Taipei. But the mountain is the highest. "
