Postscript of Han Yuanji's Book of Northern Qi School.
The ancients have a long history of writing and painting, but hard-pen calligraphy tests modern things. Primary students can choose or copy block letters to see whether the stippling is correct, whether the font structure is symmetrical and whether there are typos. Intermediate students will begin to master the layout and common sense of calligraphy. For the font of the proposition, it is necessary to be able to master the stimulation of various pens and the layout is still complete, and then it depends on whether the use of stippling in details is smooth and accurate. Advanced students should test their creative level, master more than two fonts, and preferably have their own writing style.
The hard-pen calligraphy exam is held twice a year in June and February, with a total score of nine points. Grade 9 is divided into three levels, primary 1~3, intermediate 4~6 and advanced 7~9.
