During the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty, the poet Li Bai visited Mount Emei, lived in the Pilu Hall of Wannian Temple, listened to the eminent monks play the piano, and wrote "Listen to the monarch play the piano": "The eminent monks in the middle of Shu went down to Mount Emei with a blue silk lute box. When I hear the sound of Matsutani, I wave my hand at will. I heard him in the clear stream, I heard him in the cold bell. I don't think there has been any change, although the mountains have darkened and cloudy autumn has piled up the sky. "
Wannian Temple has the existing mountain gate, Maitreya Hall, Guanyin Hall, Prajna Hall, Pilu Hall, Pearl-free Hall, Magnificent Hall, Bell and Drum Tower, Xingyuan Hall, as well as gardens, pavilions and pools. This garden-like temple has become the largest temple in Emei Mountain.
Beam-less hall, because it is all brick structure, is called beam-less brick hall. It was built by Emperor Wanli for his mother's birthday. The whole hall is 17. 12m high, 15.79m wide and 16.06m deep. The top is a semi-circular hollow dome, and the bottom is a square base, which looks like a yurt and symbolizes a round place. Walls, roofs, even lintels, arches and windows are made of bricks. Temple carved double eaves, embroidered windows, doors engraved with Sichuan and Sichuan situation, cloud stack Jiange, land and water routes.
The temple is surrounded by ten thousand buddhas. There are twenty-four niches in the lower part of the inner wall, and each niche has an iron Buddha statue. There are horizontal niches in the middle and upper part of the inner wall, and there are also many small Buddha statues. There are four flying fairies painted on the vault, holding pipa, harp, lusheng and flute respectively, which are vivid and colorful. At the top of the temple, there are five white pagodas at four corners and in the middle. The middle one is bigger and the four corners are smaller. The four corners of the temple roof are also decorated with auspicious animals such as lions, elephants and deer. Some people say that if the flat brick hall is regarded as a huge tower foundation, then the overall shape of the flat brick hall is a huge King Kong throne tower.
There is a famous "Xingyuan Building" behind the Wuliangzhuan Temple, which houses the three treasures of Wannian Temple: Buddha's Tooth, Bayleaf Sutra and Jade Seal. The tooth of Buddha was presented by foreign friends in Ming Dynasty, and it was identified by scientists as the fossil of ancient saber-toothed elephant. The Bayeux Sutra was presented by the King of Siam in the Ming Dynasty and written in Sanskrit "Hokkekyo". The decree was given to Zhu Yi in Ming Shenzong when it was given to build a flat brick hall. The jade seal, one of the three treasures, is the most precious. This seal is 13cm square and weighs 4 kg. It is the imperial seal given by the Wanli Emperor of the Ming Dynasty, engraved with the words "Wanli of Daming, please give Emei Mountain, Imperial Brick Hall, and Pu Xian is willing to be the treasure of the king".
There are many inscriptions in the temple, the most famous of which is The First Mountain Monument written by Mi Fei, a calligrapher in the Song Dynasty. There is also Baishuitan, which is worth seeing. It is on the flat ravine on the left side of the temple gate, and the water is as clear as a mirror. Mountain shadows and moonlight often reflect in the pool, and the water and sky are the same, also known as Mingyue Pool, which is the place where Li Bai and Wen Jun, a monk in the temple, fuqin and compose poems. Because the travel schedule was too tight, I didn't do any strategy before playing. I didn't see any of these three places.
Wannian Temple is very high above sea level, dominated by broad-leaved trees, with conifers in between, and the mountains are distinct in spring and autumn. In spring, the mountains are green, and in autumn, the maple leaves are yellow, picturesque and intoxicating. In the area of Wannian Temple, the mountain farmhouses are patchwork, just like a quiet mountain picture scroll.
There is a cableway under the mountain to Wannian Temple, but the scenery along the way is beautiful. Friends who like it can walk here, which usually takes 30-40 minutes. Personally, I feel that Pilu Hall, Infinite Hall, Xingyuan Hall and The First Mountain Monument written by Mi Fei are all worth seeing. Don't miss it when you come.
When we go to a place to play, we often miss many beautiful scenery and places with special significance because we don't understand them, and after we have been to many places, we may never go again for the rest of our lives, so we have left regrets. This is also the original intention of my writing these articles. I hope my friends can have a better time and have less regrets. If you want to go somewhere, you can leave a message.
