About the learning or process of calligraphy.

1. Material preparation

Pen, ink, paper, inkstone, copybook

1. Use paper to produce propaganda

2. Ink There is no sedimentation residue, writing is smooth, the ink color is even, and the smell is fragrant; alcohol can be added when the pen is stuck.

3. Use the wolf hair of the pen

2. Writing posture

1. Holding the pen

“There is no fixed method for holding the pen. It must be empty and wide. ”, the palm of the hand is empty, and the holding is flexible.

Three-finger grip is the most common

Grip: the fingertips of the five fingers are together, and the palm of the hand holds the barrel of the pen.

Five fingers: "press, press, hook, push, and hold" the five fingers to hold the pen.

2. Writing posture

Wrist pillow: Rest your wrist on the table or the back of your left hand when writing. ?

Wrist hanging: The wrist holding the pen is suspended away from the table, while the elbow and arm are still on the table.

Hanging elbow: The arm holding the pen is completely suspended. The best way to write, the most common method used by calligraphers.

Choose according to convenience, own habits and needs. The three methods can be used step by step. ?

3. Height and tightness?

The distance between the finger (ring finger) holding the pen and the tip of the pen is the height. The strength of holding the pen is loose or tight.

Beginners should keep it low and loose. The writing is more stable and the fingers are less likely to tire. ?

4. Brushstrokes

Finger movements: Pointillism is purely written with fingers. Topical use

Wrist movement: Wrist movement to complete various strokes. Use all small and medium fonts.

Elbow movement: For large characters, you need to move your elbow.

5. Sitting posture?

“The head is straight, the body is straight, the arms are open, and the feet are secure”, which not only protects the spine, but also facilitates the control of writing strength.

6. Standing posture?

Big characters should be upright. Because the characters are large and long, it is not suitable to write while sitting and the viewing angle is not sufficient.

Put your palms down, the backs of your hands and your arms should be in the same plane, stand firm with your feet open, and the distance between your feet should be equal to shoulder width.

3. Use a pen?

1. "A round pen is used as the base paper, and the center of the pen is always moving in pointillism" - center strokes. ?

If the tip of the pen is in the middle of the stroke, the tip of the pen is not conical but flat, and the written strokes will be flat and thin.

Beginners can tap the brush on the edge of the inkstone to restore it to the cone state, and slowly try to use the center stroke. Through the change of the wrist, the direction from the tip of the pen to the belly of the pen is consistent with the running direction of the brush. The center's pen handling is relatively advanced and requires more practice and observation. ?

2. Skewed strokes?

The tip of the stroke is not in the middle of the stroke, but walks on one side of it; that is, the tip of the stroke is on one side of the stroke and the belly of the stroke is on the other side of the stroke. On the side, the tip and belly of the pen are walking side by side. ? It can only be used occasionally, otherwise the strokes will be light and hairy at the same time. ?

3. Side forward movement?

A method between center forward and side forward movement. Viewed from top to bottom, the angle between the stroke direction (center line) and the running direction (stroke center line) is 45 degrees. ?If the angle is less than 45 degrees, the texture of the strokes is close to the center; if it is greater than 45 degrees, the texture of the strokes is close to the center. It is mainly used for rows and grass. Beginners should not use it too much. If you are copying Yan style characters, side drawings will be used in horizontal drawings.

4. Preliminary post

1. From regular script to final cursive script

2. A must for beginners

Yan Zhenqing: "Duobao Pagoda Stele" 》

Ouyang Xun: "Inscription on Liquan of Jiucheng Palace"

Liu Gongquan: "Stele of Mysterious Pagoda"

3. Real arrival and unexpected arrival

The words written without looking at the copybook are intended to be 80% similar to the original copybook and meet the standard, and the copybook and calligraphy style are converted.

4. Review

Comparing Lin characters with copybooks, the deficient characters are mostly the use of strokes (the structure is generally less likely to cause major problems through copying), and the characters that use strokes repeatedly are specially selected. Practice and always compare in your mind (without looking at the post).

5. Ask for advice

If you have the guidance of a calligrapher or calligraphy teacher, you will get twice the result with half the effort.

The art of calligraphy is like the sea, and diligence is the best policy.
