What is Ou Liu's calligraphy like, what are its characteristics and how to practice it?

Ou Yangxun is known as the first regular script in Tang Dynasty for his rigorous brushwork and precipitous brushwork. He and Yu Shinan were both famous for their calligraphy in the early Tang Dynasty, also known as "Ou Yu". Later generations saw danger in peace with their books, and Xi Zhi, the first one, was named "Ou Ti".

Yu Shinan pays equal attention to both rigidity and softness, and his calligraphy is vigorous and powerful. His calligraphy is round, soft on the outside and rigid on the inside, with a sparse structure and beautiful appearance. Together with Ou Yangxun, Chu Suiliang and Xue Qi, they are called "four outstanding figures in the early Tang Dynasty".

Yan Zhenqing's regular script has dense structure, light strokes, strong brushwork and solemn momentum.

Liu Gongquan's words were evenly matched, thin and hard, and he pursued Wei Bei firmly. His brushwork is crisp and beautiful, his bones are thick and his body is tight. "Books are expensive, thin and hard, and the spirit is clear." Compared with his face, his regular script is slightly flat and thin, so it is called "Yan Gu".

In terms of characteristics, the structure of pens and characters used by each calligrapher is different.

Practicing calligraphy mainly depends on copying, and the key point is to learn the structure of your own pen and words. It is best to practice one by one, and then write another after learning one. Set aside some time for writing every day.
