Characteristics of running script calligraphy

Running script is between regular script and cursive script, including running script and cursive script. It is more vivid than the indulgence of regular script and the convergence of cursive script. The physical characteristics of running script determine its unique brushwork. Running script is expensive in the center, and a lot of wingers are used at the same time.

Running script sprouted in Han Dynasty and matured in Wei and Jin Dynasties. The Eastern Jin Dynasty produced a running script style with high artistic model, and the representative figure was "Two Kings", whose style continued to the early Tang Dynasty. From the middle Tang Dynasty to the Song Dynasty, a new style of Yan Zhenqing's running script appeared, with Su Dongpo, Huang Tingjian, Mi Fei and Cai Xiang as the representatives. Zhao Mengfu, Zhu Yunming, Wen Zhiming and Dong Qichang are the representatives of the book style in Jin and Tang Dynasties. At the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, a group of calligraphers with personalized ("Shang's" calligraphy style) and Beibi calligraphy style appeared. There are "running scripts" similar to regular script and cursive script.
