Li Rusong defeated the Japanese pirates
When it comes to the three great talents of the Ming Dynasty, many people may think of Tang Bohu. Although Tang Bohu was talented, he was not enough to be among the three talents of the Ming Dynasty. .
The three talented men of the Ming Dynasty were Xie Jin, Yang Shen and Xu Wei. Compared with the first two, Xu Wei is not well-known, but his talent is not inferior to them.
1. I think I am the worst at painting, but I let Zheng Banqiao be my subordinate.
Xu Wei's character name is long, and his nicknames include Qingteng Old Man, Qingteng Taoist, Tianchisheng, Tianchishanren, Tianchiyuyin, Jinlei, Jinhuishanren, Shanyin Buyi, Baiyushanren, and Elbi Shannong, Tian Danshui, Tian Shuiyue. In short, there are many names. Xu Wei himself often said: "My calligraphy is first, poetry is second, writing is second, and painting is third."
Although Xu Wei himself often said that his painting is worse than calligraphy, poetry, and articles, He can only be ranked last, but he founded the Ivy League School of Painting, which did not seek resemblance in form but resemblance in spirit, and had a great influence on the painting circles of later generations.
As a representative of the "Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou", Zheng Banqiao admired Xu Wenchang very much. He once carved a seal and called himself "the lackey of Qingteng". The "Qingteng" here refers to Xu Wei.
Xu Wei’s paintings had a great influence on later generations.
2. Outstanding strategy and help Hu Zongxian pacify the Japanese pirates.
During the Jiajing period, Japanese pirates invaded the coastal areas of Zhejiang and Fujian, and Shaoxing Prefecture became a place of war. Xu Wei, who was usually good at military exercises, participated in the battles in Keting, Gaobu, Gongshan and other places, and made suggestions, which initially showed his military talents.
Later Xu Wei became Hu Zongxian's staff. At this time, Hu Zongxian was based in the southeast, serving as a feudal official and governor of Zhejiang Province. Under his command were famous anti-Japanese generals Qi Jiguang, Yu Dayou and others. As Hu Zongxian's confidant, Xu Wei's identity and status are self-evident, and he is equivalent to the staff of the headquarters.
During the more than ten years when Hu Zongnan was quelling the Japanese pirate rebellion, Xu Wei had been advising him as a military advisor. He used a divorce plan to capture the Japanese pirate leader Xu Hai, and used gentle means to appease the pirate Wang Zhi. As a result, the Japanese rebellion that had plagued eastern Zhejiang for many years was gradually eliminated.
Although Hu Zongxian was in the same party as Yan Song, his achievements in pacifying the Japanese pirates cannot be ignored.
3. When he was down and out, he traveled to other places and taught Li Rusong and Li Rubai.
Because Hu Zongxian was a party of Yan Song, when Yan Song fell, Hu Zongxian was also dismissed from office. Hu Zongxian was dismissed from office, and Xu Wei, who was Hu Zongxian's staff, was naturally unlucky.
Xu Wei used various means to self-mutilate, stabbing his own ears with a huge awl, going several inches deep, and smashing his scrotum with his vertebrae, but he did not die.
Later, he killed his step-wife and was sentenced to death and imprisoned. His fellow villager Zhang Yuanbo tried his best to save her and was exempted from the death penalty. Why he mutilated himself is unclear.
After being released from prison, Xu Wei went to Liaodong and met Li Chengliang, the deputy commander-in-chief of Liaodong. Li Chengliang treated him very politely. And asked him to teach his two sons, the eldest son Li Rusong and the second son Li Rubai.
Xu Wei taught him his military skills and experience in defeating Japanese enemies. Li Rusong and Li Rubai got all the true stories.
More than twenty years later, Li Rusong led the Ming army to the aid of North Korea. In the Battle of Pyongyang, he defeated the Japanese army Konishi Kōchō and other troops, annihilating nearly 10,000 enemies, and burned down the Longshan warehouse, destroying the Japanese army's food supplies. Imjin made great contributions to the victory of the War to Resist Japan and Aid Korea.
Many people know Li Rusong, but they don’t know that he learned many military techniques from Xu Wei.
