The name of Hefei Library was written by Guo Moruo.
Hefei Municipal Library is located on the bank of the beautiful Amber Lake. It is the bibliographic document center, information center and network resource center in Hefei. It is a national first-class library and has the first digital library in the province. The museum is the Hefei Center Pavilion of the National Information Sharing Project. Hefei Municipal Library originated from Hefei County Zhonghe Library and was officially established in 1958. In 1968, the Municipal Library was merged into the Municipal Cultural Center; in 1973, the Municipal Library moved back to No. 134 Huizhou Road (formerly No. 612 Meiling Avenue) in the city center. In 1974, a library building with a construction area of ??2,010 square meters was built and completed in 1978. In 1977, Mr. Guo Moruo happily inscribed the name of Hefei Library.
In 1998, the Hefei Municipal People's Government approved the construction of Hefei's new library. The new library has a construction area of ??15,000 square meters and a government investment of 80 million. It is the first major project in Hefei's cultural undertakings since the founding of the People's Republic of China. The new building is also the first government turnkey project in Hefei City. ?
